Canon's Channel map - Rowddy - 26.07.2010

Hi everyone,

i recently reinstalled my Il-2 game after givng up on it for some time (frustration hehe). Yesterday i flew for the first time over Canon's Channel map it works great awsome detail Smile 1 thing however isn't correct on it and that are the airfields they are marked as cirkels with a logo inside on the map. they are hugh blurry spots with some buildings or hanars on the edge's Sad How can i fix this? i use the HSFX versio of the game, which must ne proper installed because no other map has this problem or any problem as far as i know yet.

second question:

Is there also a Bf109 open cockpit MOD? i can't find one tbh.

third question:

i have installed a Hurricane open cockpit MOD in the MODS folder but the cockpits won't open i assigned a key for it. any idea what the reason could be?

S! Rowddy.

Re: Canon's Channel map - {HVY-E}Jinxx - 30.07.2010

You may want to try the 1:1 Channel Map from 242sqn.
While fixing the textures and adding buildings is possible, it is also very time consuming.

If you still wish to modify Cannon's map, you'll need the Unlocked FMB+ so that you can alter the map and then re-save it.

And yes, this question needs to be in the Mods section. Map Mod discussion I believe.

Re: Canon's Channel map - Rowddy - 30.07.2010

Ah ok thanks for the reply Smile modifying myself is beyond my capabilities i'm afraid. so i try downloading that version. It's weird though because this map was standard in HSFX i presume since i not added any maps yet.

Got one question though is that map 1:1 Channel Map from 242sqn also from Canon? I mean is it the same one but then complete?

This map is still standard in HSFX 4.1 and some airfields do have low rez textures because of playability (FPS, memory issues, CTD) but there seems to be an option to d/l high rez textures.

The 352nd VFG map is nót made by Canonuk. On the contrary. There has been some contact between Canonuk and 352 but for some reason they decided not to work together. Because of that you will not find the buildings Canonuk created on their map, just default stuff. Actually the 352 map seems to be sparsely populated, mainly photo textures. Therefor I prefer Canonuk's version.

Re: Canon's Channel map - Rowddy - 30.07.2010

forgive me if i sound stupid but how do i fix Canons Channl Map? Everything works all textures are there except airfields. Is there perhaps an update? i can't believe i'm the only one tbh who has this problem yet i read much about this Map but nobody even mentioned this problem. I use an high end PC and fly in HD. i have no stuters what so ever. Irealy love this map just those airfields are a bit of a bummer.

Read through the entire thread before you try installing this- it should fix the airfield textures.

Re: Canon's Channel map - Murph - 02.08.2010

Here's the one you really need; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4717898/CanonUK_objects.zip Unzip it and copy it to the Mods folder in your HSFX install. I you do not have a Mods folder, create one and put it in there.
I can't remember who made this mod- I didn't, and there is no readme included with the author's name. I think it may have been Gilb57?
I also do not remember which site I downloaded it from.

Ok here is what happened i installed it in the MODS folder but that didn't work so i took it out again and installed it like this...
Games/Ubisoft/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS/MAPMODS/3DO/Buildings/Fields

But that didn't work either so now i'm lost again Sad all work in this great except it doesn't show the airfields (just some small piece of runway, on the edges some small roads (not completly), some small buildinds and a hangar or 2 the rest is a blurry spot. Mind you that the objects that do show up are all on the edge of an airfield.

Re: Canon's Channel map - Murph - 02.08.2010

Well, I hope you can figure out how to make it work. I works for me just by putting it into my Mods folder. Just a thought; When you unzip the file, you will get a folder called "Cannon UK Objects". Inside that folder is another folder with the same name- you need to copy this second folder to the Mods folder. Otherwise the game will not see the various files and folder inside.
