I need some tips on.... everything.. - Sean2323 - 05.08.2010
well so far, im kinda a train wreck, heres what i do in il2 all the time and some facts about my flying.
Landing speed-250 km/h
Landing crash probability-67%
Dogfights involve me ramming something with my rudder
when bombing things i fly like 10 meters above using bomb delay... even with a b-29
i crash into more ships then i sink... what can i say, kamakazing things is fun!!!
Obviusly i need a tune up, unfortunatly, this maybe my last fight in WWII, i have ordered lock on platinum (Lockon+lock on flaming cliffs 2) on ebay and it should be here soon, so i might play that alot... anyway, you got any tips for wwii dog fighting in il2, throw em right at me, aswell as good manuvers to do to avoid enemy fire. thanks in advance,

My best advice to you is to find a friend that can take you under his/her wing and teach you.
First and foremost, you need to pick a plane that you want to learn.
Study it's specs and performance history.
Find out where it performs best and in what roles.
Practice, practice, practice......

The chose if you are a bomber of a fighter,
Then chose a plane to fit you needs
And practice untill you are good at what you do and then start again. E.g if you chose bomber at the start then chose fighter.
You'll find the more times you do it the better you will become at what you do.
Simple as that

Be careful with the landing speed . on approach extend landing flaps and decrease your airspeed by switching the enginepower to 0 when the plane starts to slow down really bad than put 60 percent for about 2 seconds, that will give you enough speed to keep in the air but you will not speed up fatally .( Note : I with this landing style I brake my landing gear like 25% of the time but I atleast survive
) I usally land with 180 or 200 km/h
And yeah just as Jinxx sayd : Practice, practice, practice...
And yeah choose your role . If you bomb stuff with a B29 from 10 meter altitude , that is super unrealistic , second it pretty much looks super retarded for other players on a server that they see a giant silver plane making a landing approach on a city or harbor with max speed and sh*t is blowing up behind it . If you want to bomb something , use like a Stuka , Sturmovik Or Hellcats with rockets or bombs .
And about Lock On . Its a great game but i think you will not leave IL2 for it
At least I didn't

Fly a landing pattern, learn the stall speeds, use the flaps, twist rudder left-right-left-right to slow down, avoid face-offs. Just some advice.
