Mixture and supercharger simple guide. - YUKI> - 12.08.2010

Hi guys

I have noobish qestion aboat mixture and superchargers . Is there anywhere simple chart or something like that, that shows mixture and superchargers settings for all/most used planes ? I mean guide that show altitude when go to next step of supercharger and % of mixture for altitudes for each plane. Please paste some usefull links if u have

I don't know if a simplified chat exists for what your asking but your kind of kick your self because you all ready sort of have the answer to your question on your computer

If look in your IL-2 install folder you will find a file "Aircraft Guide.pdf" and in that your find basic information on all the planes in game including supercharger and mixture settings.

There is a simple rule of thumb with mixtures.

Higher you go, the less you'll need.

If your aircraft plumes a brownish smoke trail. You have too much fuel in the mixture. And you'll need less of an percentage.

A 120% mixture is very rich (More fuel than air) This can aid in cooling. But takes in more fuel.

A 70% mixture is lean (More air than fuel) This can bring a very small amount of power gain. But will start to over heat the engine quicker.

If your look for some simple guides to get a rough idea on Mixtures and how it can effect an engine. It can bring a better understanding. But when tinkering with mixtures. A small amount goes a long way.


Also, with super chargers. If your not sure when to use it. Put it to stage two. And examine the effects on the engine. Is the engine slowing down in RPM? (only slightly) Loss of response? If its any of these, its too early to push to stage two. You want ideally the opposite effects.
