Joystick Throttle - RadPig94 - 13.08.2010

i have a PS3 controller and i've been using a wonky config for some time now (ie: L2= 0% throttle R2: 100% throttle L1=Throttle down R1:Throttle up) and i want to use the Right Joystick for Throttle but when i use it i have to keep the joystick up to have 100-110 percent and Joy all the way down to have 0% and CENTER is 50%, i want to know if there's a way to make it so it works like Birds of Prey: Joystick up to increase the throttle and Joy down to decrease and CENTER is NO THROTTLE CHANGE

Go to the Hardware Config section and make sure that the control pad is seen by Il-2.
Then go to the HOTAS section of the controls and select throttle (down near the bottom).
When you select throttle, move the joystick you wish to control the throttle. You should see something like Z- or Z+.

That's it. Just test your throttle after that. If it's backward, do it again and move the joystick in the opposite direction first.

No. Get yourself a real joystick with a proper throttle axis.

yes i tried that but i can't keep it at a certain throttle, i have to hold it. i want it so it increases and decreases ie i push up and it throttles up and when i go back to the center it stays at that throttle until i lower the throttle by pushing the stick down

That should do it. If you're still having problems then the solution is going to be a bit more in depth.
I'm afraid I may not be of any help on this without actually sitting in front of your system.

If you like, I can get you on TS, log you in to my customer service node and take control of your computer from here while you work the pad.
We may be able to get it working the way you want then.

If the controller acts as a keypress or joystick button, rather than an axis, you could set it up that way, so that a push forwards sends an "increase throttle" keypress, and vice versa, by mapping those in IL-2 to "Increase Engine Power" and "Decrease Engine Power".

If it only works as an axis, then you won't be able to do what you want. I reiterate my earlier advice...get a real joystick which has a proper throttle axis on it. Even a crappy one will be better than a PS controller.
