Skin - Krojd - 12.09.2010
Hi guys,
I am completely new (Hi everyone
). Now, I do know how to skin. I have some completed skins and stuff. But I do have little problem now, I want to change little bit one completed skin and I might be dumb but I dont know how to do that. Everytime I did some skin I did it without saving and opening it up later. Now I cant draw at completed skin (RGB, layers, 256 index ...). Does anybody know what i'm talking about?
Is there any way to get the completed skin to basic void format so I could do the procedure (RGB, color to alfa...) all over again and or just simply paint it again without any problems? I use Gimp2.

Not completely sure what you mean....
Whenever you work on a skin, ALWAYS save as a template first (RGB, with all layers) as a .xcf file. That way you can always go back and make any changes you want. Once you're happy with what you've got, flatten image, change mode to indexed and save as .bmp file.
I would suggest however, that you flatten the image but keep it as RGB, then save as a .bmp file and convert it using Bright, a great tool that will keep your skin looking sharp and clean.
If you have no template and just a skin, convert it to RGB, go to Layer>Transperency>color to apha (make sure white is the selected color in the color to alpha window). Now you need a new background layer - In your layers and channels window, select new layer and when the window pops up select white. Drop this new layer to the bottom, this will be your background layer.
I hope this helps you

Re: Skin - Gumpy - 12.09.2010
Here's how I do it.#1 Copy and paste skin from skins folder to desktop.#2 covert skin from bmp to jpeg using a program called DXTBmp which can be found on the net for free.#3 do the editing with Photoshop then convert the edited jpeg back into a bmp using the bright plugin for Photoshop. The #3 step can also be done with Gimp2
