A six core CPU might be on the horizon for you:

The real advantage of multiple cores is that you can assign each software to a separate core, thereby increasing the smoothness and efficiency of processing. This is because the processing of each software in a separate core causes them to not intefere with one another in the CPU.

With TrackIR, TeamSpeak, HyperLobby, Fraps, aircraft pedals, AC controls, and so forth all running at the same time in a flight simulation, six cores is much needed! Smile

Here is a topic by Jinxx which can help you with core assignments:

Mh, interesting! Smile

With a Intel Xeon (Server) you will get a eight (8) core CPU 8)
With AMD you will get even a twelve (12) core CPU Confusedhock:

Imho, its not really the CPU that matters - but the software!
Where do you have software which supports and works with all these CPU's?
It's like having a Ferrari - with an engine with twelve cylinder and 670PS - but only 1 or 2 cylinder are working! Cry

So, if you would have an IL2 or SOW which really works even just with a two or four core CPU and a 64-bit OS- it would be fantastic! 8)
And all the other components of your PC even matter too..

Well, what will we do? We will wait and see what will happen - and then choose the right machine!

I have a AMD 6 core with 8 gigs RAM, a GrForce GTX 470, and a 750W power pack,
running win7 64 bit, it was the best thing I ever spent money on.

Good thoughts, Jambo.

DM, you have a great rig, indeed.

Hi,

I gave a nice explanation of why we might need six cores in the future. See the first post.
