PC 1000RS bomb - Hairog - 05.12.2010
What exactly is this bomb supposed to do and how do you control it? The AI launches it way too late. Is there anyway to guide it? So far I've only found the HE 111 able to use it in 2.1.

It is an Unguided Rocket Bomb used for Anti Ship. No way to control it.

Is it used for stand off purposes? The AI over shoots by about a 1/4 mi.

honestly i have no idea what to use it for, it's hard to aim and may end up in blowing yourself up, i do find it more effective against ground instead of ship targets

The PC 1000RS was intended to attack and bomb Panzer - Tanks!
They're another version like a PC 500RS
The RS stands for Raketenunterstützt - "Rocket supported"

The bomb was mainly intended to be used against ships. Since it's hard to aim with this bomb (got it RadPig94 :wink: ), the bomb was intended to be dropped in a steep dive. Minimum release altitude is reported to be 4.000ft. The rocket propellant ignited about 3-4s after release and burnt for about 3s.
The bomb carried about 10% explosives material only, but caused severe damage to heavily armoured targets (->ships) of reasonable size due to it's high impact energy caused by the extremely high impact speed.
