F6's Opinion of COD - Fsix - 02.04.2011
Hi all, I thought I would share my new experiences with Storm of War with you all.
Generally, its a good good game, to bad it was designed for IBM's supercomputers.
Graphics are amazing, but act like biting flies on FPS.
Menu is to dark, but that's just me.
Takes very long to load a mission.
Hard to map controls.
AA for transparency doesn't seem to be there, maybe I missed a setting.
I think the game could use some patches, fixing general bugs and what not. I like the game, and will play it as soon as I find the graphics sweet-spot.
I would recommend it - After a few bugs are fixed, or before, your choice.
My rating for IL2 1946 with UP: 7.5/10
My rating for IL2 COD: 7/10

Looks fun, but I'd rather wait till all the bugs are fixed.

I think you can not bring to market a product like this. :-?
I've read many opinions from users in many forums and no one it works fine.

I haven't visited AAS for a long time , on March 25th I came here with hope that COD will be awesome . And then after reading the posts about it , I see that it's just a major bugfest ... COD was one of the huge reasons to buy a new PC for myself , and then I hear that even NASA PC s are dieing under it . Why did they release it in this state? pff . Looks like the IL2 community will have to wait until summer to get a straight game with acceptable amouts of graphical/gameplay bugs so they can start modding it .
Lets hope it gets fixed soon......

Lots of people have updated their computers thinking in this release, (fortunately I don't).
They have spent thousands of euros, and now it nothing works.

F6's Opinion of COD
+1 agree with you F6,
furthermore it sucks that this 'New Generation' game doesn't support sli , ...why!?,
and max antialising 8x is a joke ! its still jagged and antenna lines are dots !, in that IL2 1946 is doing a much better job
well lets hope patches wil solve it all....

I agree with F6.

I say give it a year and then CoD will be a real good game but now nah not interested. The idea behind CoD is nice but for a lot cheaper prise Battle of Britain 2 Wings of Victory is far better for the time being.
Fsix this is a nice little eye opener on buying CoD. Thank You.

GT-430 2.5GB @ 808Mhz
4GB DDR3 2x2GB @ 1600Mhz
WD Blue Hard Drive
AMD Sempron at 3334Mhz
+ A lot of system tweaks
If they managed to raise performance factors somehow, the score would rise.
Medium High settings in COD is 25 fps with lots of stutters.
Perfect with sharpening tweaks no Mip-Map filtering at 1600x1280 with ultra pack never below 30 fps
Customization options are nice, you can set how your pilot looks. Airplane to. FMB with tons of stuff, Vehicles look real in battle.
Re: F6's Opinion of COD - Newt - 02.04.2011
Yes, no doubt in a year CoD will look better then il2, i'm running the game
on a 24 inch screen everything maxed out although the game autoswitched my sli to a single card [470gtx],
average fps is 30 [..or more when above sea ], but above land it stutters...
so i set it on medium, gues what...same fps, same stutters,
I also tried a custom made nvidia file to force sli , the game opened but artifacts ruined the gameplay
its clear that the game needs a lot of optimising

Me too, I agree with F6.

Hi,
The stutters are mostly from RAM being full. All that huge amount of data is overflowing to page file size and causing the stuttters.
There are filters and compressions which will help stuttering at the cost of image.
Processing speed is only part of the issue. RAM is huge, too - both system RAM and graphics RAM.
