F6's next PC build - Fsix - 10.04.2011
Hi all. As games become more demanding, and the need for more powerful systems, I am building a new PC.
Here's what I'm getting:
Motherboard:
MSI 880GM-E41 AM3 AMD 880G
Graphics Card:
MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
RAM:
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
CPU:
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz
SSD:
OCZ Agility 2 OCZSSD3-2AGT180G 3.5" 180GB SATA II
OS:
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU Cooling:
XIGMATEK HDT-S1284F 120mm HYPRO
Case:
NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis
PSU:
KINGWIN Lazer LZ-1000 1000W Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified
Total Price is $1,407.60
Opinions and ideas are welcome.
Clockings I am hoping to achieve:
GPU: 1Ghz compared to 900mhz
CPU: Unlocked to 4 core and OCed up to 4Ghz compared to stock duo at 3.2Ghz
RAM: 666 or lower CAS and at 2133mhz
Take care.

Ditch the MSI graphics card and get either of these;
Gigabyte GTX560ti SOC, Sparkle Calbre X560, or Palit GTX 560ti Sonic. see here
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-560-ti-roundup-asus-engtx560-graphics-card-overclocking,2858.html
All provide better performance, G/byte equal to a 570 whereas the MSI card is closer to a reference card design and they all have full manufacturers warranty.
Also, check into the new Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid drive, video clip an details here
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/internal-storage/momentus-xt-kit, only 5sec slower than the newest SSD drive, 500gb storage and $140 Aussie dollars.

Pro tip: I can play crysis 2 on my 3 years old laptop.
Re: F6's next PC build - Fsix - 11.04.2011
What does that have to do with anything??
Re: F6's next PC build - Fsix - 11.04.2011
You are comparing standard 560ti from MSI. The one I am getting is Gold Edition.

I didn't know they did a Gold Edition :-? , I was just looking at what you had mentioned in OP, the "Twin Frozr" thing and the tests that are in the Toms hardware link are all O/C'd cards. The MSI one came out around the bottom. No matter, it's all horses for courses and it has to fit your budget too.
Me personally, I have to change my plans again, seems the card I want has a bloody long waiting list on it. So, I am now going for the Gainward GTX560ti Golden Sample. Don't they think up some great names
hock:
Good luck with whatever you choose, I hope it does what you need.

Fsix,
From a business stand point I cam also tell you.......
Ditch the MSI card.
Our store has had about a 75% failure/return rate on their video cards. Mostly due to inadequate cooling from the manufacturer.

You can fix the cooling issue, bit for the cost of a good cooler, you may as well spend the money on a better card that doesn't need to be fixed in the first place.
