Scratched Disc suggestions? - DalekBen - 11.04.2011
Hello!
We just got a new computer after my old one's motherboard blew, and I'm trying to reinstall IL-2. Unfortunately, the disc is MAJORLY scratched, all over the place! The install freezes at 89% on specific files, so it's probably this. What would be the best thing to use to clean the disc? (remember, the game is only 10$, so no more than that) I'll be going to Blockbuster to try and get it un-scratched, but it's pretty messed up. What should I use if BBSTR fails?

Right before you put it in the drive to install it,Lightly spray it with a coat of Lemon Pledge DON'T wipe it all off just rub a rag over it and kinda leave a fine film of Pledge on the bottom.

You could also try wiping the dvd with a little bit of toothpaste or brass polish (gently). Wash it off with water, let it dry and try to read it again.
Alternatively, maybe software like CDRoller or Isobuster. Hope it helps!

Test "Iso Puzzle 1.7" http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Images-Utils/IsoPuzzle.shtml
maybe it helps, or there is special cleaner for scratched discs in market that you can use.

I forgot to mention, I'm running on an HP Pavillion w/ Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I'm installing it directly into the C:\ drive. Here's what happens: Everything goes normally, installs just fine, up until 89%. There, it gets stuck on some specific skin files. It says to make sure I have permission, and that I can access the files. I have permission, and obviously I can't access the files. I'm almost positive that it's the disc scratch ( the scratches are in circular directions near the outer edge of the disc), but it might be something with the computer as well. I run a.exe instead of the default setup w/admin priveleges, AND switch off all Norton security. Any more suggestions?

make sure it's a custom directory btw. is it possible to get old files from the old computers harddrive, such as plugging it into the new one?
