Sennseiser Headphones - FA_Diablo - 13.04.2011
I am currently using usb headphones and have for a long time. Would I get better frame rates by switching to a soundcard and headphones?

Hi, Diablo
I would say, probably keep what you are using.
The difference is there but
not significant in most cases.
You are actually using the more efficient method right now for some computers. Using an audio jack type headphone would cause the system to handle audio to digital conversion from the audio jack, which adds one extra step in the processing.
The difference is very small because the amount of CPU processing for sound usually does not compete against other game processing given that there is room to spare in CPU processing capacity. Sound processing is a small fraction of the total.
In old and week systems, sound could become a considerable factor, but since you have USB, then you likely have no concern.
Also in systems which have integrated GPU and CPU processing, then it could become significant. Here is one advantage of having a computer for gaming with both a dedicated sound card and a dedicated graphics card. In the case of a dedicated sound card, then you would actually want to use an audio jack which is connected directly to the sound card.
For most games using most computers, it makes little or no difference which type of headphones that you use.
On the other hand, if you have a heavily modded IL-2 which puts much demand on the computer system with high effects and so forth, then consider what the components are in your computer according to my information here.
