How Low Can You Go: Don't try it in a real plane - Fireskull - 22.11.2011
Real life seems more fascinating than fiction, often times.

I do remember watching WW2 footage of a mustang crossing a german held airfield to strafe enemy aeroplanes on the ground. He was low. And I mean, low. Cutting the grass with his propellor. I doubt anyone would attempt to fly that low deliberately so I suspect the pilot was so fixated on his target he simply wasn't aware of his predicament.
It also reminds me of a
Great Warbirds show held at Wroughton Airfield in the nineties. At one point in the proceedings a Bf108, a regular particpant in airshows painted in fighter colours to emulate the 109, was chased in turn by four spitfires. One one these swooped in and disappeared from view below the almost non-existent slope of the ground. Even the commentator expected something to go horribly wrong. Luckily the spitfire re-appeared and made way for the one behind him none the worse for his close call. I wonder who cleaned the aircraft seat afterward?
