Shelving it, too much effort just to get it going... - tomoose - 01.03.2012
System specs;
Win 7 Home Edition, SP1
Intel Core i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80 GHz
24 Gig RAM (only 16 Gig available)
64-bit OS
ATI Radeon 5760D (two in Crossfire mode)
I waited with expectation for it to come out and have tried to like this game and have adjusted this and tweaked that. I managed to get decent graphics but then CTD happens at no predictable time (e.g. "Launcher.exe not responding"). Restart then joystick buttons that were working are no longer working even after I reprogram them in options. As with SH4, I guess this one will go on the shelf until I either have a system that can handle it (which I thought I did) or the company issues another patch or upgrade. Back to IL21946 SAS Modact and the Channel map I guess.

Man with a PC like that you should be peeling the paint off the walls and cutting through any game like a hot knife through butter, you might want to go over to 1C site and see what they have to say.

Hopefully next Friday the new Beta patch will be out, which includes a graphics engine re-write, I believe they fixed the memory leak issues and CTD aswell as many of the core bugs, but your computer should run it on max graphics at like 50+fps.
Alot of those issues seem to be with computers capable of running CoD, I only have like a 5-6 year old Quad Core with Nvidia GT 550 Ti, but I can get better performance than those with a similiar setup to yours. :-?
But try it again next week!

Hmmm... This is odd, bro. You've got a good machine there, so this is weird.
First of all, how do you have 24GB of RAM but only 16GB available? Let me go out on a limb here and guess that you have 3x 8GB sticks, and one slot open? Am I right? Well, if I am right then that means that the third stick is in the wrong slot. Move it to the empty slot and you'll get the full 24GB of RAM! If you look in your mobo manual it will tell you the proper arrangement and you'll see what I'm talking about. Or just take my word for it, heheh. But if this is not the case, tell me what sort of RAM setup you have. This can cause a lot of problems for you... Let me know and we'll see if we can fix this! :wink:
I don't know much about SLI / Crossfire. I've always found it to be too troublesome, and opt for single high-end cards. I'm running an nVidia GTX-580 and having zero problems. I'm also running every game and sim on the market at max graphics and having no stuttering, lag or issues. So you can probably see why I chose to do it this way lol. All I can really suggest is to check for new drivers, make sure Win7 is fully updated, check for any general PC bugs/issues (and repair them) and check with the developers. Thus I agree with Deutschmark's suggestion...
However, I doubt that you're getting CTDs as a result of your GPU. Sounds like a RAM / mem management issue, not a GPU or VRAM issue. Maybe fixing your RAM setup as suggested in the first paragraph will help: we'll see. And maybe with a bit more info we can get your CoD install running right!

CTD's=Memorey leak issue=Hopefully resolved in the upcoming beta patch.
