S!
Most people might say who cares? Col. Luther J. Miller was a decorated pilot during WW II and Vietnam. He was also a key member of the design team who built the C-5A Galaxy transport plane.
But his most secret accomplishment, was his role in the development of the AC-47 "Spooky" Gunship. Col "Jay" Miller was the one who came up with the idea and implementation of putting mini guns on a C-47 Dakota.
Yet his biggest accomplishment for him was the numbers of pilots and would be pilots he educated while serving as an instructor and professor at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, IA.
So if any of you are flying the AC-47 in UP3 take to day to remember who was behind that project.
Colonel Luther J. Miller (1921-2012) Blue skies and tailwinds Jay rest easy.

I remember that I read or heard about him in the past. Some people have amazing work ethic and Col. Miller combined it with dedicated service to his nation. It seems that he had a special talent for meeting needs with innovation and prioritizing them.
As always, solute to an honorable military service and soldier.

I had the opportunity to attend the University of Dubuque, while he was on faculty....
He is quite the quotable person...."You don't need a yoke to fly a plane" Jay's lesson on using the trim wheel to fly. The man could take off, navigate, and land a plane using the trim wheel.
