Hi Gentlemen. I've started building this huge bird, and it's likely going to take a looong time. So, I'm posting a step-by-step WIP review, hope someone may find it useful.
Now, I don't think anyone of you needs an introduction to the B-17, so let's just talk about what this kit offers. It is a 2010 release featuring a later G version (the one introducing the "chin" turret under the nose); remarkably, besides being brand new, it provides plenty of internal details and alternative parts.
The detail level is up to current standards, as you would expect from a newly engineered kit (although it isn't totally flash-free).
The decals sheet provides stencils and serials for two machines, both of them from 8th Air Force, 1st Air Division, 1st Combat Wing, 91st Bomb Group:
- DF-F "Little Miss Mischief" (324rd Bomb Squadron, Feb. 1945), portrayed in the box art;
- OR-R "Nine O' Nine" (323rd Bomb Squadron, April 1945)
Of course, like all 4-engined bomber kits, this one is not suited for absolute beginners, given the high amount of pieces (Revell rates its difficulty 5, their highest). Will this kit itself make the job easier? We'll see that!
