Request for 11lbs Tempest
#1

Is someone working on 11lbs Tempest? I have been waiting for her, but I haven't noticed anything about her for a long time. Just clone Tempest to a new slot and modify FM and engine to get 11lbs boost and perhaps remove rocket loadout.

Also a 13lbs version with new prop would be an awesome low-altitude killer.

Or is the Oleg's Tempest already too dangerous in the hands of an ace pilot? Big Grin

It's strange that one of these late war Tempests didn't make it as the stock Tempest, seeing as IL2 was approaching 'endgame' with "46".

Curious.

I back the request for a +11lbs Tempest, since there is no hope Oleg will ever give it to us in IL-2 and SOW will start (hopefully!) just with a 1940 scenery (and if they will proceed chronologically ...).
I think it shouldn't be to too difficult for an experienced modder to create it, starting from available data and estimates for 10.5/11 lbs (http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/t...ptest.html), since there is no difference in aircraft shape in respect to +9lbs model.

In my opinion a +13lbs would be justified too, having in IL-2 many other "rare birds" which flew in scarce numbers, like Do335, Ta152 or 109K4 C3, but I never saw any performance data about it. Probably a "reasonable" extrapolation could be made from +12 lbs data (see the same link above).

What' seems certain from tests and historical info is that +9lbs was at least about 20 mph slower than +11lbs/+12lbs up to 4000 feet and that +11lbs was the main Tempest model throughout the war.
So, a +11lbs Tempest should have been chosen by Oleg as the base model, even if +9lbs available data are more complete, AFAIK. But at least the +11lbs low altitude performance should have been mapped on in-game model.
I hope than some modder of good will wants to fill the gap ...

Sure that 11lbs tempest is a real joy to fly..... i like it really much.

Extremely powerfull, very fast, little bit tricky to fly, but with training become a real beast ... it is a joy for V1 hunting and Doras dogfighting. Canons working by pairs or all together, and so on.

I think it is the most powerful prop plane of the game.
