Hi all:

Can someone point me to a site that has a complete, and EASY, tutorial to install TeamSpeak?

I need something like:

"DL TS server.
DL TS client.
Run server DL.
Configure server like this:
....... (this is where my problems start!)
Run client DL
Configure client like this:
....... (this is where more of my problems lie!)
Try this, that and the other thing to troubleshoot"

The point I'm at right now is: I start the server, then, when I try to hook up as a client, I get a message that says:

"No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it."

I've put the correct IP in the server address box, (found using 'What Is My IP')

I've also got a DynDNS account but that doesn't work either.

I installed TS two-and-a-half years ago but the other day it went kerfluffle and my buddies, and I of course, couldn't join on me. That was the first time the message:

"No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it."

was seen.

I tried a bunch of things and ultimately uninstalled TS to try a clean installation. I'm back where I was the other day. Since it's been so long I wonder if perhaps I've now screwed something up.

Can someone help me out here?

When you start your ts server there should be a small icon in right bottom tray ,,right click on it and it will tell you proper ip. I would guess if behind router you have to forward the right ports also.

If you are still stumped I suggest going to the ts forum for help.

Don't know of any tutorials as such, so here goes.

1. If you just want to use TS for comms in-game you do not need to run a TS server, just the TS client. There are plenty of public free TS servers out there.
2. DL & install the latest TS client.
3. Click on icon & run the program, it may be in the task bar tray.
4. On menu, click "setting" then "soundinput.output settings". This brings up a self-test screen.
5. Click test-codec & select "CELP6.3 Kbit" (my setting).
6. Click "press to talk radio button" (I do not use voice activation).
7. Click "set" button, then press the key you want to set for voice comms.
8. Click "activate local test mode", try talking & see if you can hear yourself in your headphones. Adjust volume etc accordingly.
9. Click "de-activate local test mode" when done.

If you get this far then you know your comms is at least working OK.

10. If comms not heard then try clicking "settings", "options" & making sure that the "wave" sound driver radio button is selected. Also that "input device" & "output device" (at the bottom of window) has your sound card selected.

Connecting to a TS server
1. Assuming your comms are setup OK, then click "connection" then "connect" (main screen of TS Client).
2. Right-click on the "server" tab, & choose to "add server". This writes an tab called "new server" in the server list.
3. Left-Click on this "new server" tab to bring up a server info dialog box.
4. In the server info box, type in the server name (meaningful name for you). As example try "Public TS server 1"
5. Filling in the the server IP address. As expample try voice.teamspeak.org:8767
6. Do not Click the "allow server to assign nickname" button.
7. Filling in the & fill in the "nickname" box, this is your nickname ie. IL2-Hotshot or the like
8. Click the "anonymous" radio button.
9. Fill in "login name" name same as nickname.
10. Leave password blank (some servers have a password).
11. Click the "auto-reconnect" box. This allows TS to try to reconnect if comms drop out for any reason.
12. Leave remaining boxes empty. (in some servers you can connect directly to specific sub-channels).
13. Now hit the "connect" button & you should be connected to a public (free) TS server. Note you cannot talk in the default channel you enter. You will have to either make a new channel or click on one of the channels listed to join there & talk.

Yes, the icon is there and it shows the same IP as 'What Is My IP' shows so that isn't the problem. The router is ported for the default 8767 that TeamSpeak uses.

Everything you said worked out great. I hooked up to the public server and created a channel. I couldn't test it 'cause nobady's awake here yet - it's Sunday morning.

I DO have a server, or rather, HAD a server. Everything worked up until last Tuesday night when we fly. Bit of a bitch to have to use the phone to talk to each other then use the in-game plane radio to communicate while we fly.

I've had some downloads from MS in the past two weeks and am wondering if something having to do with security has set up another block. I've had Windows Firewall shut off for many years so I don't think that's the cause of these problems.

Thanks for the help so far but it's not quite there yet.
