Force Feedback
#1

Hi everybody
I've been playing Il-2 for years, but only lately I began playing it online. I discovered this site, downloaded the new mods and enjoyed a brand new game! :-)
FANTASTIC. Thanks to everybody working for us all! The mods are great!

BUT...only one question: I haven't found anything about improving joysick force feddback effects.
(Apart from Alan's one).
I use a Logitech force 3D pro and -ok- there are many better devices (the best I tried until now is the Microsoft's Sidewinder, IMHO).
But are there mods to improve the stick behaviour, especially in pre-stall (or extreme carving) situations?

Thanks again!

Hi ece

afaik, there aren't any other joystick mods around other than Alan's, but there are some nice 3rd party utilities to help set up your joystick for iL2.
I don't have a link right now, give me some time...or somebody else might be along soon with some more info... 8)

Thanks a lot!
Perhaps a good setting utility is what I need.

The big difference I found between Logitech, Thrustmaster and Microsoft, isn't about feedback mechanism or sensitivity of the stick itself.
Is about the way the stick gives you back the sensation of air pushing on the wings: you always feel when you're about to stall using a sidewinder because the stick becomes lighter.
With Logitech or Thrustmaster you only feel it shaking when you're ALREADY spinning...
But I guess this isn't a problem of joystick, but it's rather a problem concerning software and interface, don't you agree? :-)

Yep, its a tricky business setting it up 'just right', and the Logitech FF is my least favorite. I used one for awhile, but got wear on the up/down (elevator) axis, and basically had to dump it. I'm using another Logitech at the moment, this time without FF - I have the stick mounted on my FF steering wheel, and it works like a charm! Much more realistic than having the stick itself shake, imho... 8)
