4.08 vs. 4.09beta
#1

I appreciate y'all humoring a rookie question. What version of IL-2 should I be flying? I know there is a 4.09beta "official" patch, but I can't seem to discern what of the current mods are compatible. I see there is a version switcher, but don't see why exactly I need both. If someone can give me the quick explanation, I'd appreciate it. I currently have 4.08m with the unified installer mod package. I suppose the gist of my post is should I look at installing 4.09b?

Thanks.

The version switcher is so you can switch between 4.08 and 4.09 and also so you can turn the mods on or off.

You do not need to install 4.09

All mods should work with both versions (some custom maps need 4.09 to work though)

The switcher is there because some servers use 4.08 and others use 4.09
Not all servers allow mods so they need to be turned off to get in

And with 4.09 there are two or three new maps. Slovakia, which is PERFECT, and I think Bessaribia and a desert map.

Appreciate the replies. So is my best course of action to re-install 1946, update to 4.09beta and reinstall the Unified Installer Package?

Thanks again.

Do not update to 4.09b

You should have 4.08 before installing the unified installer
After installing the UI you can switch between 4.08 and 4.09 using the version switcher without updating to 4.09
