A 2048 pixel skin whould not be the solution because you still have 256 colours. It whould be a nice effect if you make 2 skins in 1024. One skin for motor parts, wheels and all the little shit. The other 1024 skin whould be for the carmouflage itself. So you have 256 colurs for the motor parts AND you have 256 colors for the camouflage.

Not quite, because you don't gain any useful space by dividing tech and basic on two skins. The max width is still the same. Yet, if you have double the width and height you can get lots more and finer details on the skin.
