Idea for radar!

I was flying a campaign today and get an idea for radar. If you have Icons off and Padlock on the little triangle in the cockpit turns green. Now if we could make a gunner position that had that Padlock on permanently even when the "padlock switch" was fliped off. then you have radar for CO-OP's.

Now the only question is is it doable?

Ive got an even better idea...

If a mod could be done to the map to replace the airplanes with just blips... and the map rendered as an outline, perhaps just like with the hotkey mod and it's capability to designate various levels of viewability... as in Externals only if you are dead or on the ground.... the same thing could be done for map icons... but only if you are dead or on the ground... since the host would set the setting and everyone would have to have the mod in order for it to work....( Hmmmm that brings to mind another idea for a brand new mod suggestion post... ) it would still add an element of radar to the sim... and since the map icons would not designate side.. as in red or blue.. but just be plain blips of the same color.. people who had either been shot down or stayed on the ground or landed could be designated as radar operators..

Maybe instead of a map showing blips, AI carrier and AI ground based fighter control by voice or text can give direction, distance, altitude and speed of a bogie or bogies when within the historical range of radar of the time the same way as is done in the game by ground control when giving way point information in single player, coop and campaigns.

Could this mod be "turned off "server side"" for ALL players to insure that it could not be used otherwise? IOW, the person running the server decides if it works or not for those having it.

I think radar must be like "static object", possible destructable. Their range and accuracy display target must be diffirent, with dffirents models. Command for radar aiming target must be entered in chatter [like command aircraft for friendly plane].
And one aim in 2-3 minute - how in real life. Image with display on map added later.
This mod will brighten airwar, especially on Western front. Night intercept RAF plane with ground radars.
