So I'm pretty new to all of this modding stuff, and so I decided to start out with the unified installer pack. I read through all of the instruction for the unified installer and it says that I need to patch my IL2 Sturmovik:1946 to version 4.08. I downloaded 4.08 and installed it to my IL2 Sturmovik:1946 directory. Now when I go into my IL2 1946 folder the there are two game launch Icons. One says "il2fb" and the other says "original_il2fb". However neither of them work the game wont even start up my computer will just sit at the desktop. So is there a previous version of IL2 1946 that I needed to install before 4.08? Was there something I needed to install along with 4.08? I have tried installing 4.08 several times each time on a fresh install of IL2 1946, and it does the same thing each time.

Try setting compatibility to Windows XP SP2 and change security settings to allow all or something.

I already running windows XP SP2, but anyway I think I found out whats going on. It turns out I dont even own IL2 sturmovik 1946 I only have the original I mixed them up. I do however have IL2 Forgotten Battles which is installed but it seems that there aren't any mods for Forgotten Battles on this site. I've tried installing the 4.08 mod to Forgotten Battles even though it is meant for 1946 it was just a shot in the dark, and I figured it wouldn't work. I guess I'll have to go out and buy IL2 1946.

yeah but the games only $10 bucks on amazon and yes torrents are free but I'd rather have a hard copy of the game. And I can always play Forgotten Battles until the game gets here.
