Bombers shaking during heavy AA fire possible?
#1

Hello to all. Just curious, is it possible to make the bombers to shake everytime the AA shells explode near it's body when over enemy FLAK units? Especially when FLAK fire is heavy? "Pearl-Harbour"'s movie "Tokyo raid" scene displays perfectly what I mean...
Maybe to use the same "shaking mechanism" that you feel when you try to down the gears at high speed/altitude?
IMHO, it would add a lot of immersion to flying the bombers (especially to guys that use FF! )
What do you think?

I like the sound of it, from a movie-like point of view, although I wonder about the historical accuracy... If the pressure wave from a flak explosion is close enough to rock a plane then presumably so will be the shards for white-hot metal! That said it would add considerably to the feeling of immersion and 'fear' when flying through thick flak, and that can only be a good thing (think Yossarian in Catch 22!). At the moment it seems all too easy to me to pretty much ignore flak in-game.

If this were possible maybe it would be better to weight it toward smaller single-engine aircraft, with it becoming rapidly less noticable through the twins and heavies?

A forcefeedback stick will do that as well as the boom butt thingy.

We already have the turbulence effect, maybe that could be somehow modified?

I dont know if is possible find a way to use turbulence shake starting by flak attack.

The fact that you mention this 'effect' from a movie shows it's origin... I would say that it would be unrealistic.

Think about it - if a flak burst is close enough to shake a plane with its shockwave, then it is close enough to pepper said aircraft with the pieces of shrapnel at the forefront of that shockwave. You'd experience the 'effect' once, before you're plane plummets to earth. You might survive two or three in a bomber I suppose, but your ship would be in a sorry state.

Just my 2p of course...

Sounds familiar...

But isn't there a case for it purely in terms of adding a bit more tension? Just as some people like 'realistic' smoke, others a more cinematographic look...but it can't hurt to see if it would be possible!

Famous last words... :?

Make the aircraft "think" it was flying through the "turbulence" we have in clouds for 2 seconds??? Possibly increase the effect amplitude also?

Definatly like Catch-22 and Pearl Harbor. C-22 has an awesome takeoff scene with the B-25s Anyway on subject...
I'd be an awesome effect but if you felt that effect a couple of times ur dead, so in that case it's a bad effect. HEY THAT'S A CATCH-22! Big Grin

It does it for forcefeedback sticks Smile
