Any chance of a way to make the game full wide screen compatible? I have my wide screen 22" LCD for some time now and although is very nice to fly IL-2 even with the cropped top and bottom I was wondering if anything could be done now?

The biggest problem with cropping is that my Freetrack assumes I see the whole 4/3 screen and doesn't let me look up fully... or more than normal.


There are some great tools and tool makers that do widescreen for games that don't support it completly on www.widescreengamingforum.com . The new tool for Battlefield 2 is quite nice for example.

You don't get widescreen doing that. You lose part of screen over and below the screen with that method.

We need a real WS mode for IL-2.

No. The closest is 1280x960. (You can reach 1600x1200 if your screen accepts that resolution).

I am running 1680x1050 without any trouble. I do have to deal with one little issue though. When flying HUD view [which I hardly ever do so not too much of an issue] I loose all icons on the right side of my screen. Also, the icons on top, left, and bottom are not really pointing to enemy/friendly aircraft. I have my conf.ini set as above and love.

You lose an importan % of your screen in 1680*1050 with the conf.ini as above. It,s a well known problem.

You think you are seeing a widescreen, but is false. You are flying in 4:3, but a part of the upper and lower screen is lost.

I have got a 22" screen, flying like you, at 1680*1050*32, and I know what I,m saying.

Yup, I also tried messing with the conf.ini settings and I can't get past cropping problem.... maybe some one has an ideea for a mod?
