Improving internal appearance of cowl/fuselage section.

I was wondering what would be needed to improve the texture quality of the external a/c parts as seen from the cockpit.

The wing quality is OK, but the Cowl/Fuselage chunk seems to have much lower texture quality than in the external view. AFAIK they use the same texture tile, so I don't understand the difference in quality.

Another thing that bothers me, especially now that we have 6DOF is that the fuselage ends too far away from the cockpit tub, leaving that gap of nothingness. Could the visibility sphere be altered to reduce the gap?

Example of the gap of nothingness:

I've often wondered the same thing. I guess Il2 wasn't originally designed with the ability to move around the cockpit 6DOF style, but those gaps etc. are really annoying. I would imagine it would take a fair amount of work to fix. I think its a case of waiting for some talented 3d modellers to 'fix' the aircraft individually.

Yes, it can be done. This is exactly what HunInTheSun did in his excellent All-Holes-Solved mod.

Indeed, you should ask hunInTheSun if he can tell you what has to be done for a plane to not have this bug.

Here is his thread: viewtopic.php?t=3850&start=120

Also... the FW190 nobar fix is doing a similar thing.
