Question About Location of Game
#1

I have read somewhere that it can be a good idea to have one's games installed to a drive other than the one being used by the operating system. Is this true? How much benefit could I gain by moving my installations of Il2 from my main drive to another drive or partition?

Another partition will not give you that much benefit.
There's a slightly increased possible speed on that partition itself since usually other partitions aren't that much fragmented like th system partition is, but this will be negated by the increased time the hdd head will take to constantly move from one partition to another.
All of this is in a very, very low percentage area and won't be recognizeable though.

What might speed up things is to have IL-2 located on a physically different HDD, but that depends on the HDD itself then.

I have all my flight sims, including multiple copies of IL-2, located on a separate HDD. It's purely for simplicity's sake and to make it easy to backup. No performance advantage that I know of.

:cheers;
