Downloads - What to choose...
#1

Hello all,

I am a new member as of today and I look forward to discovering what this community has to offer!
I first came across this great site from a video on youtube demonstrating your mods, and, well, here I am!

Anyway, for a n00b this site is very overwhelming. There must be dozens upon dozens of mods to pick from, and I'm in need of a little guidance. I've read through the installation process for beginners, but I need some more help.

- What downloads are absolutely necessary to unlock the 52+ formerly AI aircraft?
- I'd like to keep things closest to the original files, I don't need new skins or effects for the whole game.
- I'm a bit confused on the Mod Pack. I have v. 2.7, but I've read that for original aircraft I need v. 2.3. Do I still need to download the earlier version?
- Must I download every file from the beginner's gude to make things run properly? (Other then the optional files). Is the new alternative graphics dll's download necessary?
- Are the latest versions of original aircraft encompassed in one single download, or do I need to download the main aircraft and each subsequent version listed?
- Are all current cockpits and gunner fixes included in the latest version of the Mod Pack (2.7)?
- I've heard that in-progress campaigns are affected. Myth or not?

I apologize deeply for piling on all the questions at once, and for my ignorance if I've skipped over important threads that have solved these questions.
Thanks everyone! 8)

hi, and welcome

one basic thing is important to know: when you enable mods you'll automatically have Russian game version ( only Russian fb.exe is moddable) !

so:

1 make sure you have DVD game version 4.08 ( if downloaded ... install this patch: (The link is inoperative) )

2 install sound mod 9.03 ( or mod activator if you don't want new sounds)

3 install 4.09b1m patch ( optional )

4 install wrapper

5 install english career fix if needed : (The link is inoperative)

6 if your gui ( menu ...) turns to russian just replace contain of gui_ru.properties with english one )

all properties files are located in : game root \Files\i18n\

7 you are ready to install any mod ....

all of the above + :

(The link is inoperative)

good thing is that you can disable any mod by adding "-" as prefix to unwanted folder name

example : ( "-effect_Avala Terrain lighting")

you are fine with latest version ....

explained above ....and for dll's , no they are not necessary so installation is optional
Quote:- Are the latest versions of original aircraft encompassed in one single download, or do I need to download the main aircraft and each subsequent version listed?

latest versions contain all needed files ( unless stated differently )

Quote:- Are all current cockpits and gunner fixes included in the latest version of the Mod Pack (2.7)?

i believe so

Quote:- I've heard that in-progress campaigns are affected. Myth or not?

possible .....make sure you back up your users folder and campaign folder

Wow, thank you very much! That clears up all my questions!

Now what else can I think of to bug you guys about?...

Oh, yes, sorry, but I'm not sure where to find the Campaigns folder. Is it the one titled "DGen"?
Thanks very much!

Hmm... I believe I found the proper file. The Campaign folder is in the Missions folder? If so, I've got it. Please let me know if I'm wrong, though. Thanks!
