You might consider starting a collection of the images you most like by some of the big guns, if you haven't already done so. The reason is that as you progress you can turn your attention to finer and finer detail, as well as to the more global aspects, and a picture is worth a thousand words. :wink:

As you continue to immerse yourself, your "seeing" will become more and more acute. You'll find yourself noticing things in images that you didn't catch the first time around. That's where you get on to those little noticed thngs which together add up to some serious enhancement

Thanks a lot, FB! I always recieve plenty of good and useful advices at SSW, that's what keeps me going on and on. The most fun part was the smoke, I made it based on the tutorial of Max the Hitman. It took me at least an hour

Very nice composition mate, almost photo real, only thing lets it down are bits on the 109 giving its IL2 identity away, still very nice work indeed

Yeah, the dedicated image sites usually have great tutorials and advice for improvement.

I think that the greatest benefit of tuts is that they show you a method for approaching the problem. Once one gets the general idea, then the sky is the limit. Also, making smoke sucessfully gives one more confidence.

There are, quite literally, endless ways of depicting smoke. There's dark smoke, light smoke, opaque smoke and more transparent smoke. Which you choose depends upon the particular image you are working with.

Don't be hesitant to fool around with different ways of making smoke. You might be surprised with what you come up with on you own :!: :wink:

I've noticed that Rigmortiz uses quite a few different types of smoke in his images. You might want to look at some of his "smokey" images just to get an idea of how varied smoke can be.

You forgot to mention the Spliff smoke, great for the imagination, just have to make sure no ones watching you get imaginatively paranoid
