How to ... replace default Objects with Mod ones

For those who do not use the FMB for mission building.... but want to see the nice new Objects, such as

Lal_Rone's hangers replace the default ones. This can be done as shown here.... but remember that it will

be 'Global'. This means that any object you replace in this way will have the default one replaced by the

mod one on ALL maps which use the default object..... meaning, all the default maps.

You will need to install the FMB+ available at this site...

Open il2 and press button for FMB....

Open any map...an online one will load faster...

Pull the left hand slider down until you can see the ground close-up

Go to the View/Objects tab..

Select Objects...

Left click your mouse on the ground and press the insert key on your numberpad...

This has placed the first Object on the ground ... so now press the Enter key and this will take you into the

3D view

Now press the 'Page up' key and go through the objects until you find the one you want to replace......
here we have the hanger1 ...very ugly

look at the bottom of the screen and you will see its name ...House$AirdromeHanger1.... either note this

down or make a screenshot

Now carry on looking through to find the similar Hanger you want to replace the default one with...

note down its name ... House$AHangar_Uvert ...or make a screenshot

Now open your static.ini file with Notepad and scroll down to find the replacement Hanger...
then select the MeshLive and Dead lines and copy them...

then find the lines for the original hanger (near the top) ......

and paste in the new ones to replace the old

Viola! .....

there are many similar ones to choose from...and even a winter one to replace the default winter hanger

This can be done with any new mod objects which are simply reskinned default ones ... and will work for

some of the new forthcoming Fortifications mod too.

...nice of you to volunteer

actually ...one with the screenshots from FMB+ would be good.... because the numbering system is pretty useless now with everyones static.ini being slightly different

So, did anyone actually moded LAL Rones Hangar Mod 2.0 to etend it over the old and ugly structures? The ones that can be replaced without creating incompatibilities with missions etc.

thanks for this fabianfred, I've just found this topic and this is a really good method to quickly fix some buildings

my first, successfull attempt was to replace one of the ugliest buildings which gets a nice blur too if you zoom out a bit

[buildings.House$Factory]
Title Factory
MeshLive 3do/Buildings/Pacific/Factory/live.sim
MeshDead 3do/Buildings/Pacific/Factory/dead.sim
AlignToLand 0
Body RockBig
Panzer 0.55 //0.3

I decided to use one of the Slo buildings which is very similar, just a bit smaller:

MeshLive 3do/Buildings/Slovakia/3Duby_HQ/live.sim
MeshDead 3do/Buildings/Slovakia/3Duby_HQ/dead.sim

that is what this does....replaces globally the ugly old hangers and buildings with the new ones....just a little bit of cut & paste in the static.ini

I suspect he wants the cut and paste file ended by someone to replace all the buildings. I too...

Downloading that file and the LAL Rones Hangar Mod, we would have got all the cake!
