Game won't load after installing MOD activator
#1

Hi. I'm new at playing IL-2. About one month. Love the game, so much to learn. I wanted to use this great MOD (The link is inoperative) for correct P-47 sights. Read the instructions noting that I needed MOD activator.

This is the one I used

Now the games stops after 5% loading, and the screen disappears very quickly. So fast I can;t even read it. It's a new screen, and says something about v4.08 mods enabled.

Sorry for the noob question, I'm sure it's something silly I missed.

I hate to un/reinstall because I do have quite a few skins.

Thanks

If you're new at this the best advise I can offer is this; Make a copy of your skins folder and save it somewhere.
Uninstall Il2.
Reinstall and patch to 4.08.
Download and install the Unified Installer ver.1.1.
DO NOT reinstall the mod activator, you won't need it once you have UI 1.1 installed.
Copy your old skins folder to your new game installation.

Many of the mod's here have not had their instructions updated since they were first posted here. This one is a case in point- UI 1.1 includes the P 47 improved cockpit, which includes the gunsight mod you wanted.

OK, I did all that. (The link is inoperative)

I thought I was fairly computer literate. Guess not.

I copied the IL-2 file. Renamed it. Downloaded the 8 1.1 installer parts. Ran that to the newly named IL-2 folder. It all seems to be there. When I click on the game switcher folder, the six files are there. But if I click on an application in the file to play, nothing happens.

My old version still loads.

You don't have to have the DVD version of the game for this to work, do you? Mine is downloaded from Ubisoft.

I should be content with playing the game as is, but I now this stuff is "out there," and I can't let it go. haha

Never mind. I found it. I was attempting to load the game via icons in the switcher FOLDER. I now see the switcher exe. duh.

Thanks to all who worked on all of this. I'm sure it was time consuming beyond belief.
