let's try e-mailing and petitioning Team Daidalos to add new features into IL-2 Sturmovik like fuel tank switching, more enhanced engine controls such as generator switches and prop magnetos and openable canopies for newer aircraft, and 50. caliber API ammunition. What do you say?
I would think it more effective if some big hitters from well known modding groups went to them on behalf of their community with suggestions, rather than just bods like me. The opinions would carry more weight and would probably be better considered. Also, if I worked for Daedalus and kept getting bombarded by fanbois of particular machines or ideas I would get very hacked off. By all means we should have communication with them, but I think it's best if it's done in a more formal way: stuff works out better that way, from my experience.
Just my two-pennyworth, and I'm not knocking you for the idea btw.

4.09 is done, and the next will be 5.0 .. only several weeks ago it it was to be 4.10
Now, any 4.xx patch or upgrade would logically be to IL-2 1946
5.0 would normally indicate a new version in a series, or at least some very significant changes
regardless, it seems 5.0 take significant time to accomplish, and it would be appropiate for AAA staff to put together a list of fixes, improvements and additions to present to TD.
This would be more valuable to TD, IMHO, than the sometimes seemingly biased and poorly informed requests by some individuals who have little clue about what can be practically acomplished .. often going over old ground and old biased arguements .. already see this happenning at the 1C forum.
Might be a good idea to do this in conjuction with SAS, present one strong case together
