I woke up yesterday morning to find my modem with the power light red and the wireless light stuck on, i power cycled but this did not help, did a master reset ...no help i finally concluded that the modem was DOA, but i called AT&T tech support to be sure i was missing anything, they confirmed it was indeed dead...no problem i have a spare linksys laying around, i setup the linksys but it will not connect to the PPoE server, i use to work for verizon DSL tech support so pretty much know what i am doing...after an hour with n o luck i call tech support back and ask Tobe put through to a tier 3 tech, they don't have tier 3 that have "customer care plus" as soon as she said that my spidey sense started tingling...but i said OK ..put me through the short of the long is they were willing to help me trouble shoot my lijnksys problem for a one time fee of $99.95...my first thought was to ask if i will get a reach around when you are done...but i refrained from be a smart ass and simple said thank you but no, after a few hours of searching the web for answers to the linksys mystery i gave up and was reserved to the fact that I was going to have to buy another 2wire ($80) or pay $99 for "customer reacharound plus" So at this point just out of curiosity I took the modem apart looking for swollen caps burnt trace or thermal discoloration ...nothing...hmmm..so i did a quick search on my 2wire and found out that MANY people had the same problem..the modem is fine the $15 power pack went bad  and apparently they know about it but don't tell you...geee i wonder why :x . they tried to sell me an new modem and tried to charge me $99 to help me hook up a modem that should have no problem connecting to begin with...they really are a sleazy company all that did was motivate me to move back to a cable connection.
recap; power light red wireless light stuck on , try replacing the power pack first
