[Download] WW1-ish skin for Gladiator Mk.I/Mk.II/J8A
#1

... at least I think it is for all three because I don't see any differences in the skins for the different versions...

I tried to create a fabric-like look for the wings and back fuselage with Gimp's "Clothify" script, creating a multiplied layer. I also used the standard void file, once as background, second as multiplied layer and third as multiplied layer with only the lighter parts (so that they look darker). Before doing so I had the problem that the upper wing looked too smooth and polished because the indexing process ruined the slight color changes. I'm still not quite satisfied with the extremely dark fuselage below the wings... The atom symbol is the "i" charakter in the "Other WinBats" font. So far, there are no hand-made smoked areas, but I will add them in time.

The color scheme is nothing fancy, I was just experimenting a little bit and this is only my second published skin - so please be gentle with your criticism Wink but utter it nevertheless! Any help/hints/advice/whatever are greatly appreciated.

I will upload this and perhaps a few other, similar skins including the layered XCF template on M4T when they are finished. Since I figured the most difficult part in skinning is getting the shadows, smears, streaks etc right and finding the place where to paint, I recommend this for other inexperienced skinners as a start Wink Wings, fuselage etc are marked as separate areas in invisible layers so that one can easily select them and paint them as he/she likes it, without being too much concerned about the other parts.
