How to modify the button file?
#1

Hello, I downloaded many mods for IL-2, with a new button file (the file who links files Motor.xx.prs at any aircrafts). But whenever, I'm not very convinced: for exemple, in a button file, all planes have the good sound EXCEPT the B-17 (he has the sound of the F4U (R-2800)), but in an other button file, the B-17 has HIS sound (R-1820_tb), but much other planes have a wrong sound (for ex. J2M (Kasei) has the sound of the A6M (Sakae)), and in none, H8K has his sound (Sakae). In short, All this to say, How to modify this file in my way? Thanks.

Good day,

This is definately a topic for the IL-2 MODS Discussion Section forum, so I moved it here. You'll likely get faster help now.

There's a good reason Info like the one you're looking for stays with a few chosen people and not the public.
I'd suggest, you ask over at the SAS forums, or ask them to take care of the issue in their next buttons release. Smile

Actually I was told the Buttons file contains the Flight Models.

But you will just have to ask over at SAS to have the error corrected in the next update.

The tool to extract files from the buttons is freely available, if you know where to look.... the big problem is that it works similar to the SFS extractor where you need a text file so that the tool knows what files to extract, if you don't have the current most up to date text file, then it won't extract all, and then if you do your modifications and compile your buttons file, it will, in all probability crash, because of the files that were misssed on extraction haven't been re-compiled.

Best just ask at SAS like Verhangis said.

Cheers
