Not sure possible to delete or add arfields in an EASY way. The info about airfields and all oter objects to be placed on a map is stored in actors.static. This is a coded file. Try swaping the actors.static from one map to another, see what I mean...

I published one campaign myself so i do know how much work and time needs to be implemented ... so campaign/mission builders have my admiration from day one!

Could someone produce lower colour saturation terrain textures for the summer maps?

1. @ lowfighter : How do you find the load.ini file for each map ?
For example, I need the original load.ini of Crimea map. How do you find the load.ini of Italy's map that you posted saturday ?

2. I am very interresting to delete some airports. On Crimea, the south Sebastopol base is fully fictional. I would like erase it !

3. Just a idea to create to great desert map. You could substitute the original load.ini of Mourmansk by desert map one !!! And Welcome in North Africa !!!

Hi RONE, first I want to take the opportunity to thank you for the mission template pack you published at checksix! Very very nice templates M8!

About your questions:
1. If you extract all the maps sfs into a folder say "X", then Crimea files shoud be in "X/maps/Crimea/". With my version of the extractor (not sure it's the latest there are certain map files which are not extracted into their corresponding folders but are extracted right in "X" directory and have strange names like A6CBLABLA675. All the latest maps (Italy etc) have the files like this. So if you want to know the load.ini for the latest maps you have to open all this strange files with notepad/wordpad and look for some hint to which map that load.ini corresponds. This files are small, for example the load.ini for Italy is 4 KB only, generaly all load.ini are about this size or smaller.

2. Also my wish to be able to delete some airfields, but at the moment we don't know how to do it.
3. It will not work this way I think, but we can change the textures of murmansk to desert. However the airfields will remain green which is not good!

we may be able to change textures for airfields ( with sand of stone ones) ... like on Norway - needs to be tested. Anyway i wish there is way to extend game map list so i could have your Crimea , original and desert one. Ideas?

i havent tested winter norway yet, sorry! (very busy)

but im wondering, will using winter noway mod mean i will have 2 morways in FMB to choose from? or will norway always be snowy with mod, so that i have to take it out for "summer" norway?

if i use winter norway mod, and make a map with it, when it gets online in a server, will everyone, even those WITHOUT sound mod or norway mod still see winter, or will norway be summer to them?

Hm, Zo you might be saying something, and if you're right then it's a big big step! Place the "wrong" textures for airfield (swap ground and ground winter files) in the files??? I think it should work. Off to beer session now :wink:

Hm, these are important questions, but I don't know, to second one you might just try test it online. To one, I hope we can find a way, but I'm not very optimistic. I'll try something tomorrow...off to beer session really now :wink:

i found the same thing:

Kuban-desert (or any desired map) instead of online9a in game:

1. create folder empty1a inside files\maps\
2. past all extracted map files of desired map from its folder- for example Kuban
3. in filelist add paths for all that files
4.edit load.ini as you like
5.open maps_ru.properties ( files\i18n\) and change name of empty1a to desired name for example Kuban-desert

Now within the game you won't have online9a( which is empty useless map) anymore but you will have Kuban-desert instead .

Funny if we got the same idea at the same time m8 ....

Now i only need all map files for new maps such is Italy,Norway....

It should be entirely possible to substitute the tex's used for the airfields with those from others. I did a quick test whilst messing around with something else on the weekend. I forget the names of the textures but they (4 textures) have the suffixes *gnd_64, *gnd_128, *gnd_256 and *gnd_512. You generally cant open these files but they would simply be a tileable *.tga texture of the surface of the runway. Subsitute these textures for images of block colours of different colours and open FMB and you'll see what I mean. If you just wanted to swap grass for desert you could grab the textures for the desert type and replace the grass ones.

Couldn't just add a line to the maps_ru.properties rather than replace a line to get an extra map instead of replacing one. Just a thought Wink
