SOUND MOD VERSION 9.2 READY TONIGHT

I think i would be a GREAT idea to upload every english version of the mod with all those dat files changed, instead of make us do that dirty work...don't you think?

The solution is not modify each *.DAT file for the international IL2fb version (these files won't be read by the unmodified il2fb.exe if you want to return to the original version in any moment). The best idea would be to modify the .exe file to read the English DAT files instead of the RU files (in EN soundmod of course). It's more logical and, moreover, doing this, you will be able to read briefings online too (the program won't read the RU brief version).

I hope to see this question implemented in newer versions of this mod.

I think they are allways working with the russian exe that was originally "opened", and i don't think it is possible to modify the russian exe to make he call for international dat files.

The best idea would beworking directly with the international exe instead the russian one, after all...if they succeeded in "opening" the source with the russian version,

Isn't a International exe that has the"protection" removed? Couldn't that version be used?

No, the original "opened" version was a russian one.

I think Zaelu is talking about the game protection (checking CD in). No CD .EXE version of the international IL-2 1946.

Sorry, Mr Stupid here, but can anyone tell me how to get my pilot careers in English with the ENG version we have now?

I've tried renaming a number of DAT files (trying to get the German campaigns to run in English) and still nothing.

I've noticed that the DAT files do not have a .dat extension, and if you put so named files back into DGen, they won't over-wright anything, so I've just called them, for example- Germans_ru instead of germans_ru.dat

Nothing.

How many files need to be renamed and precisely how? Is there a way to modify the .exe? Before attempting to explain, please remember you are doing so to Mr Stupid.

It's such a great mod I don't want to think about going back to the old sounds, so frustrating not to get full use of it yet.

Simply delete(or better move out to a new folder) every file in your 'Dgen' folder which has the string 'ru' at the end.

I'm using a navigator program called Total Commander, where I press '+' and use this mask for selecting the files: *ru.*

of course you could copy the contents of the english dat file into the russian too, but that would be painfull Smile

This leaves me with a lot less campaigns in Russian script and I guess the ones that remain are from Ostfront and BoE. A great step forward. Thanks.
