CRIMEA DESERT - WIP

... my current project and it become difficult one cos i had to edit map_T.tga file to remove forest and to make handmade texture placement layers....


UPDATE 1:

ok it is ready for test-ride


PLEASE READ CAREFULLY !!!!

unrar to temp folder

Install:

1.copy files folder into your game root folder

2.add those lines to your filelist.txt

maps/Crimea/fly_Z_d_load.ini
maps/Crimea/fly_Z_d_map_T.tga
maps/Crimea/fly_Z_d_texts.txt

3. ATANTION - OVERWRITING RISK !!!! if you already have all.ini file ( files\maps) add this line into it:

fly_Z_Crimea_d Crimea/fly_Z_d_load.ini


if you don't have all.ini file just copy file that comes with this mod (file from all.ini folder) into your: files\maps folder


things i couldn't fix:

- green patches on two or three crossroads
- green earth runways
- random trees if forest set to 3 in config.ini
- Crimea Rock + castle

VERY nice Big Grin

Ive read a hint or tidbit that a bit of the Kuban region, or around that area was desert. Was the Crimea desert at all?

Superb !!
You could use Mourmank map too : Ocean at the north, earth to the south with big moutains !

well this was just test map for me for replacing forest and mess up with texture layers ....

but it grow to "serious" one ....

anyway i'm sure someone will make Murmansk into desert ( great idea, BTW) too. Big Grin

The problem with Murmansk is that it has too many bodies of water inland. Unless you transform it into a more tropical setting, not necessarily desert, kind of like Italy.

true , well we all have just started here ( learning as it goes) so everything is possible ... lucky for us those are all small files so we can have as many map-mods as we like Big Grin

Or is it possible to map green areas around the bodies of water and have the rest as desert?

well for all river banks are one unique texture (its all or none) .... you'll be getting too much green ...i tried that .

:roll: The other main IL2 forum was my daily read, sometimes 2-3 times a day, but its got so bad with some of the useless OT posts and waiting and waiting for news, sad and boring. :lol:

This is the place I go to now, just wonderful. Big Grin
