Alot of contraversy

Alright, can someone please explain to me what is possible with modding this game? Alot of people have cried "cheater" already and I am curious as to whether cheating is actually possible... lots of discussion going on about this subject...

Help would be appreciated.

If you take some time and look through this forum you'll se that there's a lot of things that can be fixed/improved with this tools.

I hope you are not looking for cheating tools.

As Bomber already indicated, i think you'll find the people on this website are actually 'anti-cheat'.

They are 'Pro-expansion'.

I haven't even tried the mods yet, i'm watching with interest however. I haven't had the time to fire up my gaming rig, download, and install the mods and enjoy since this all began, but i look forward to it.

I and 99% of the rest of the community, i suspect, is not interested in messing with the FM/DM's of the existing OM aircraft, despite some glaring long term inconsistancies and bugs. It's better to tolerate the existing FM/DM's than mess with them and ruin gameplay for everyone offline, or online.

Not to say this hasn't happened .. but i haven't seen it here.

Im not attempting to get cheats or figure out how to cheat... I come from a full real squadron who is not interested in cheating. If anything we are most interested in putting down cheaters.

What I want to know is, is it possible for some random person who has a little know how to come out and make some sort of cheat, such as with the FMs and WMs? Reason I ask is because some servers have closed themselves to these mods... reason being they have viewed some sort of track that shows some aircraft climbing at 750 KPH to over 10,000Meters... sounds far fetched I know... but coming from the days of cfs1 and 2 I know what this looks like as I have had to put up with cheats in those two sims... I just dont want the same thing to happen to the IL2 community that happened to both of the CFS communities... if none of you remember, they split horribly and were basically overrun with cheaters and people using heavily modified aircraft etc... which just ruins the game completely.

One thing you modders might want to do is work on something that will allow a server to block certain modifications (besides the ones that the server has actively installed) ? If that is even possible? That way the servers that are worried about cheaters can be more at ease about the situation. Just a good suggestion IMHO.

Of course it is possible, and unfortunately, it is probable. You can swap FM's from one aircraft to another, if thats what turns your twisted crank.

The cat is out of the bag, and i've yet to see anyone able to stuff an irate one back in successfully - this isn't the only place these mods are being discussed, poked, and prodded at in terms of seeing what the underlying code does. It's all very much experimental here. But, as Bomber already said - do some reading - this site isn't interested in cheating, and you'll find that there isn't serious discussion on how to make a me-109 perform like an F-86 Sabre - indeed, it's discouraged.

IL2 has had a good run - we'll have to take the bad with the good with the barn doors open and the horses long gone... there are bad apples out there that'll cheat with the opened code - but they are in the small minority online.

Servers will have to take what measures they need to, to keep gameplay 'fair'.

i agree, we discourage anything or any requests that affect the FM's and Weapon load outs of planes, we have spoken to some top of the list servers and i have said that any known FM cheater's names and IP's will be passed around the community to deter online cheating. There is a fine line that if crossed can kill il-2 and we are aware of that and try to limit access where it is risky.

Sounds like this is my type of community then, as I am into realistic mods and not far fetched.

One thing I encourage modders to work on is some sort of tool that allows servers to choose which mods can work on their servers and which ones cannot... thus making mods more flexible with more communities.

this would be great, and thought of already, idea from Mr Jolly, about having the game host upload the flight models to all players that join, so what ever flight model the user has it is overwritten with the servers version. Unfortunately, i think this would require the game re-writing.

Some things do get past CRT=2, not sure what, the community, i feel needs to work together, spot cheaters and report them or list them on a central area and have every one Ban that name/ip.

pro expansion +1 Smile

I visited most IL-2 forums in the past two-three years (since the sfs extract tool is public) and I've NEVER seen a description of cheating procedure or online I NEVER saw a cheater. So it seems a bit weird when people are talking about "ruined online gaming" and "hackers". The truth is that this cheating issue is the ONLY point where our activity can be attacked.

Imho Wasy's sound mod proved that you dont need a new expensive hifi (like advised) to have good ingame sound

It took me awhile to join this site. I asked about how you can stop people joining my server because I knew some of my squad had it, anyway, after reading all those sad posts at UBI saying 'Mr Jolly' & the folks here that makes the Mods are dissing Oleg etc I thought I'll look into it.

.........and all I can say is: Thank you, Mr Jolly and gang 8)

The 1st thing that jerked me off was the fact that Oleg said that 'realistic' Engine Sounds was not possible with the IL-2 Engine - rubbish  Hearing a Spitfire with a 'Merlin' or a 109 with a 'DB' is better then having sex............ok, maybe thats just my sex life then lol

To me it makes the game like it should have alway's been 8)

But the fact that we now have 'Flyable' P-36's, Me-210's (My Fav Mod Plane 8) ), the Hs-126's and many more has really got me back into this game again as the only time I played this was when I was hosting at HL as I found it becoming a bore Cry

As for cheating with the FM's, well I don't see any of that, as I see this Mod the same way as if I had the Mircosoft's Flight Sims; Combat or otherwise with their 3rd party add ons.

I would like to join you Hot Space in thanking Mr Jolly & others. With all this new stuff im into Il2 more than ever Big Grin.

As for the cries of ''cheaters'', it seriouslly makes me laugh. I frequient(sorry for spelling) the Sim HQ forums & about once a week a thread pops up asking about the soundmod or other stuff, and the topic normally turns into a flamewar  . For instance someone posted a picture from the nightfighter mod Bee's making & basically, the oleg worshipers were in uproar. What really made me laugh was the moderator, Dart. He was making comments such as ''does that plane have lazers?'' ''How long after that shot was taken did you fire the lazers?'' I hope he was joking but if he wasnt, damn lol

I just hope people will stop the wild accusations & just look at it all with an open mind. Some say were killing il2 when were actully extending its life Big Grin
