This is wrong
Understand one thing, WarClouds didn't go to CRT=2 to stay friendly for it's users, not to allow mods.
====!!!!!WarClouds is NOT MOD FRIENDLY!!!!!====

If you get caught using mods you will get permanently banned!!!
We already said goodbye to one user(AFAIK) and maybe more in the meantime...

Look guys personally I have virtually nothing against the mods, although I am almost a strict "onliner" and due to excessive lazyness of creating another install I didn't even try one single mod, that does not mean I'm here to throw some elitist bullshit or even less that mods created by this community aren't excellent, it simply means I'm a lazy bastard

However I hereby politely ask you not to spoil fun for others who want their favourite server to stay mod-free. There is a bunch of people playing there nearly every night and trust each other for years that's why we don't use CRT=2, that and the OS compatibility requirement that would throw away lot's of players. I also STRONGLY urge you to check the situation with the rest of the servers on this list because I'm sure many of them also don't feel "Mod-friendly"

Black Sheeps Server will be mod supported when it launches hopefully at the end of November.

Name planned is Battlegrounds WWII.

Let me re-iterate, it WILL support the mods.

Let me also re-iterate, the squadron BS8th does not use mods when flying servers who don't want them enabled.

Just a stupid question. On any public server out there, wouldn't the sound mod be the only one you could use anyway??? I mean, unless the server has AI aircraft vavailable to fly at each base, aren't we talking about just the sound mod here??

no

any non CRT=2 server is open to shenanigans

good self-policing along with pw servers or registered IP servers will likely root out douchebags

the effect or lack therof of 4.09 on the issue should determine the general direction the game may take...

actually... according to oleg from his ready room he plans on doing ABSOLUTELY nothing about the cracked code in 4.09... saying he doesn't have time because they are too busy with BoB...

So that kind of sums it up. Its up to the mod community now to show where the games future goes... lets only hope it improves from here on out.

IMO it has already improved.

The day I get B'n'Z'd by the Tirpitz I'll acknowledge a problem . In the meantime new planes are giving new interest to squad coops, and with mod friendly servers I'm actually beginning to enjoy DF mode again.

q. if I hosted with Checkruntime=2 would it kick anyone not using the mod?
(Though password would probably be better to keep the whiners out)

A mod free server dont provide modded planes and thus dont appeal to ppl who want fly modded planes. As far as I know (and are interested in ) there's no FM hacks around, so the main interesse is to fly the modded planes and make maps including sceneries never played before. 8)

it all depends on how much you love this game and will support it, we police our forum and i and other admins personal check every single new post and remove any external links to download that affect the game. All mods must be pasted to site admins who will check that there are no wierd FM hacks, if they ever appear and check for any dodgy files such as viruses or trojans, if we all stick together and police it our selves then we can spot real cheaters and pass the names and ip's around to all servers can ban the cheaters.

well, someone was in the AAA server ono the 42 map in a YP80, so its happened sooner than i thought.........BNZ tirpitz actaully sounds pretty cool... would remind me of "star blazers"

CRT=2 means anyone with sound mod, or ANY mod, simply cannot join that server
however, anyone running vista will also not be able to get in...assumign the server is on xp///if the server is vista, then xp players cannot join

yes, the mod issue may cause some ppl to leave the game, but i know that many others are COMING back to the game, now that thye see whats going on

i wouldnt personaly NEED AIs types...jsut having the new sounds were awesome enough in the first place! lol

ok...so u go to Warclouds....u have sound mod, and maybe the reticle mod for better reticles...how will they know? they wont, unless u say "hey everyone, do all of you have the reticle mod too?"

anyone using FM type cheats tho....im sure some might elude notice for awhile, eventually all cheating is likely to be ID'd and excised from particular servers, and in turn from most of the community

in the case of the "yp80 guy" we have sent his names and IPs we collected from serverlog, now some servers, and more soon, will already have him on ban lists
this is the likely case from now, when someone is proven as a cheat, they will be known thoughout the land, and shunned

It's all nice and fine guys, but...

We all know that there are also not so helpfull mods, we know about FM/DM swap but there are also people that ARE capable of changing much hotter things like FM for example. My squaddie recieved a track of ME109 doing Mach 1,5  - seriously.
Also it's not nice to boast how you can have minor mods and keep quiet about it, what might seem a minor modification to you may not necesserily be minor for aeverybody else, trust me one thing if I showed up anywhere with just a modded FockeWulf gunsight you would notice, you would painfully notice
There are also mods that are making the game more correct(like above FW bar correction), I know that and being a nasty Luftwhiner I like the results of modding the FW gunsight, but where do we draw the line? This is why we can either have "free for all" or "default only".

To conclude my thoughts, I know you can get a way with many things, however WE* TRUST you not to use mods on our server, that's all, it's up to your understanding of moral values to act in a way you find appropriate.
If however you do declare publicly that you use mods(or it simply discoveres, you tell a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy) however harmless and simple the are(sound mod) or seem to be(e.g. cockpit alterations) it is notified on Warclouds formus by it's admins that you will get permanently banned.
*-"WE" means, we the WarClouds players
However this was all OT

The biggest reason of my reaction is the title of this thread, it says "Mod friendly servers" that is to imply that the servers on the list accept and approve Mods while that is simply incorrect.

WarClouds didn't go for witch hunts, it didn't go for mod hysteria, and it stayed user friendly as we know what issues CRT=2 brings.
It's especially important now, that we get YOUR support, for a server based on mutual TRUST among players, because if v409 doesen't bring new protection, you will not have such servers anymore unless we all support them by keeping them clean.
Implying that WC(and similar servers) is mod friendly most certainly does not help;

-first there may be bans issued that will happen just by misunderstanding, you read here it's mod friendly and then WHAM - perma banned

-second it will also attract people who are not into harmless modding only

Guys the mods are great and I'm glad you all are having lot's of fun with this Big Grin
So don't get me wrong or something, I just wanted to clear this up, NHF I hope 8)
