To install just drop into your I18n folder with in side your Files folder

Names will only be changed in the hanger Menu i would like to have them show in the Tags for aircat if some one could show me what i need to do

so when your flying and a plane is near it says its full name ! not just somthing like P51 or Spitfire etc

very good but allready done/doing this with a dos menu system like the one for name changing the P47D Late - it will allow you to change from a default name to a modified name - if you want maybe we could finish it together ? it would just be nice if people had the choice which a menu would provide

Why are they ME? It should be Bf (Bayerische Flugzeugwerke or how to write it)... Will you rename Fw-190 to Ta-190 (Tank - I mean Kurt Tank, not tank)?

I think they changed from Bf to Me after a certain time.

RLM decided to keep the 'Bf' prefix for previous projects, changing to 'Me' only for further ones.
Quote: "the transition from 'Bf' to 'Me' occurs between the unsuccessful Bf162 Jaguar (whose number was subsequently allocated to the He162) and the Me163 Komet. The Me155 avoids this issue by having been transferred at a very early stage to Blohm und Voss."
Moreover, the prefix for Focke-Wulf was 'Fw', not 'FW', so it should be changed in the list. The 'Ta' prefix was used only for Tank's latest projects... Sad

109's never had the Me designation, since they were a legacy design from Bayeurische Flugzeugwerk. Subsequent designs when Willy went solo took the Me designation since that was the RLM prefix of his company.

This isn't true Skunk & Sheddan. :!:

Look at this:

What is right: Bf 109, Bf-109, BF-109, Bf109, Me 109, Me-109, ME 109, or ME109?

In 1938, during the production of the C version, Messerschmitt's global reputation has grown to the point where the Air Ministry suggested changing his company's name from Bayerische Flugzeugwerke to Messerchmitt A.G.. Subsequent aircraft would be identified with the "Me" prefix; those already in production, the 109, would retain the "Bf" designator. Nonetheless, many people began referring to the "Me 109," including the USAAF; contemporary air combat reports are filled with references to the "Me 109."

In German usage at the time, "Bf 109" was correct. No dash, lower case "f," not "Me 109," and including a space between "Bf" and "109." But confusion persists to this day. Try a web search on "Messerschmitt Me 109." You'll get almost as many hits as with the proper abbreviation.

However, it is pointless to ask whether a certain model was officially designated "Bf-109", "Me 109", "ME-109", or any other variation on the theme. Probably all variants can be found somewhere in industrial, military, governmental and other documents of the time

Both prefix "Me" and "Bf" are correct.
That "Me" prefix was intended to honnor the chief designer of this aircraft since 1938,which was indeed, among the best plane of its time if not simply the best "when in good hands".So,I replace "BF" by "Me" in the game.

Thanks for the tip about re-naming Bigmike! Big Grin

Hey Guys,

The Name Me 109 is a mistake, 'cause Willy Messerschmitt was only the Chief of the development crew.

The Name Bf-109 is the right one, it depends to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke.

from http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_109

Renmik, the problem is wikipedia is not a 100% perfect source. It delivers great information and such, but often fails in detail or specialized themes, as there is often collected much "I heard once"-knowledge...

I could translate (also German, but adequate English skills Wink ), but wouldn't be much good.

I think HunInTheSun has it quite right, the subject IS confusing and there is no 100% solution, as there's a difference in how it SHOULD be called and how everyone just called it Wink .

Official RLM designation: Bf 109
From: Messerschmitt and Obb. Research institute

RLM: Reichsluftfahrtministerium (Reich Aviation Ministry)
