Are you sure about this new wrapper ???

I have reservations about this new wrapper & think it may have been rushed through without proper testing first !!

Since installing it Fly-Zo's new Background GUI doesnt work & i'm left with that terrible russian loading screen ??

I also have 2 eroneous files present in my main IL2 folder;

hs_err_pid2604
hs_err_pid2888

each contain text as such (not copied in full here);

"An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0xba5b67b
Function name=Java_com_maddox_il2_engine_CfgFlagsEngine_Set
Library=C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\il2_corep4.dll"

Current Java thread:
at com.maddox.il2.engine.Landscape.isWater(Native Method)
at com.maddox.il2.engine.Landscape.isWater(Landscape.java:56)
at com.maddox.il2.objects.air.Aircraft.isUnderWater(Aircraft.java:1790)
at com.maddox.il2.game.AircraftHotKeys$73.begin(AircraftHotKeys.ja.........ETC !!!


I have reverted back to the normal wrapper.dll & filelist but the russian screen now wont go away despite reinstalling Fly-Zo's BackgroundGUI

What gives guys?

You should have PMed me instead of leading a panic concerning wrapper's far-fetched "incompatibilities".
The fly_zo's mod has problems.
I have just downloaded it and guess what?
This is it's files structure:

files\background0.mat
files\background0.tga
files\gui\game\basicelements.mat
files\gui\game\basicelements.tga
files\gui\game\clear_set_z.mat
files\gui\game\score.tga
files\gui\game\staticelements.mat
files\gui\game\staticelements.tga

Why the hell the first two files are doing in the root of the FILES folder??? they must go into the GUI subfolder.

well we have problem here .... with all due respect but here are lines (for filelist.txt) from my readme ( gui-mod):

gui/background0.mat
gui/background0.tga
gui/game/basicelements.mat

gui/game/staticelements.tga
gui/game/score.tga

Tim , i really don't know from where you got wrong first two lines !!!!

EDIT: YOU ARE RIGHT.... I'VE MADE A MISTAKE !!!!

PLEASE EVERYBODY PUT FILES :background0.mat AND background0.tga INTO files\gui FOLDER

SORRY FOR ALL TROUBLE I'VE COSED !!!!

Dear Mr. Qtim..... thank you for explaining things..... I know it is difficult for geniuses to find the patience when dealing with lesser mortals...

.....but some of us are quite challenged by computer programming Confusedhock: :oops: :lol:

I am not talking about the filelist. I said already, new wrapper doesn't use filelist. It relies on the files structure (the physical files locations). This structure must not be changed. Just open up the FILES folder in your installer and you will see background0.tga inside. don't you feel anything?

true ... and i had that mod in beta section for days .... without bad feedback from users ... strange...

these are Java VM crash reports.
are they being created everytime you start the game? or when you exit it?

No idea mate - they are just permanently there in my main IL2 ? Can I delete em? Game seems to work perfectly ok !!

I used to have at different times java crashes with XP. Now that I have VISTA, no more crashes.

I also had the exact same error logs from Java et.c... and (re)moved them
to my error files/mesages collection...
Also decided not to use the Wrapper for now; due to OTHER issues as well...

I am using [ Open GL at 1024 x 768 x 16 ] setting for the game.... (Not 32; max).

Installed 'activator' and got blank splash...
Wanted french planes cockpits, so upgraded to Engine Sound Mod
and got the russian splash... WOW for me !!
Tried the 'Wrapper' and got blank splash.
Decided not to use the wrapper mod and return to 'filelist' mode;
and still had no splash... YES I'm talking filelist, @#$%%# !!
So stop reading...

Installed an 'old Splash Mod' requiring the lines:
gui/background.tga
gui/background0_ru.mat
('Sample Picture' inserted.)... and still had a blank screen...

Investigated the 'Gui file', then RESAMPLED an 'IL2 V4.8m mod splash'
jpeg picture found in there, from 1024 x 768 to 512 by 512.
using IrfanViewer; and HAD A SPLASH SCREEN working at last !
( Did resampled 'sample' to 512 x 512 as welll...)
Decided that I wanted the 'russian splash' back instead... so I renamed
my current 512 x 512 splashs (in 'gui') to disconnect them all:
as a result I got the 'PF splash screen'; (HO MY GOD... comes to mind).

Then (pictures disconnected) I put back the line:
gui/game/buttons
before the others 'gui lines', and got the russian splash back (as a default)...

Hope this INFO will help those of you with SPLASH or No SPLASH issues...
Removing this line will remove the "russian default", I guess

My problem is the propriety files in mission builder guetting the "_ru" suffix.
English files are unreadable unlest "_ru" is added to them.
So it works russian mode no matter what ? (Using switcher to V4.08m for now.)

I also got the 'full russian interface' working at some point;
and snapped out of it; but I dont remember much about the 'ins'
and 'outs' of this one... Sorry !

{ I do !! I do!!: if you remove the 'Wrapper file' per say, you go full russian! }
{ Warning: Engine Sound Mod needs its own wrapper file...MAKE COPY!}
