The one you've been waiting for....Destroy++

Is it best to create a new folder within the MODS folder created by wrapper.dll for these mods ? Or can I continue to use the old one moved over when wrapper was installed ?

make a folder "destroy" within the MODS folder...and put them there....the "Detruction_Full" that is....the updated "technics" file replaces an earlier one within the "objects" folder

Hiya,

I now have a file structure like this;

MODS > destroy > coms & effects

Is this correct ??

Are the other effects files from my pre wrapper days now defunct ?

with the new wrapper...it will take the info from the MODS folder first....then if the info it requires isn't in there..it will look in the Files folder....then go to the default location.....

you should copy your Files folder into the MODS folder and re-name it .... ZFiles is OK

it will the go to folders in the MODS folder in alphabetical order....if no changes then go to the ZFiles folder last

so this mod should be in the MODS/destroy/com/maddox/il2/objects.... and MODS/destroy/effects

Cheers mate,

I have it just as you stated;

"so this mod should be in the MODS/destroy/com/maddox/il2/objects.... and MODS/destroy/effects"

Named my folder ZZZ_files

The hardened trees are great, but I have another idea...

Take the palm trees. Add in a damaged mesh that is just the same palm trees. Have the tga for the damaged palm... have few fronds, kinda ripped up. If the TGA can have an alpha channel, make part of the trunk invisible. Instant stumps. Set the panzer a little lower than you have now.

Now you'd bomb and instead of there being NOTHING left, there would be stumps.

The other trees could use the winter version with the tga changed to brown from white.

Fabianfred, could give us the run-down here on all your destroy-related mods...Destruction_Full, Destruction_Effects, Destroy, Destroy_v2, and (2) Technics? I'm a little confused on which ones I should have in the Mods folder to get all of your great effects work. Thanks!

Ok.......

Destroy came first
then Destroy.v2
then gave effects....in case some didn't have that....that wasn't mine BTW
then came destruction_Full....with static A/C effects
then a new Technics file to lessen the explosive effect of the A/C
a (2) of that because someone couldn't D/L from the first

I will now upload my latest version with all my recent adjustments....... and delete the others

.....wait out....I'll get back to you

OK...done...only one file there now....Destruction_all_240108

unrar to a folder of your own making in the MODS folder

technics.ini gives the static A/C secondary explosions and smoke

static.ini gives harder trees and other things harder or softer

chiefs.ini gives extra trains and convoys of vehicles

stationary.ini gives only the US tractor

Rockets.ini ...I have toned down the strength of the V1 rockets....but AA still has a problem to destroy them....when actually the Bofors was very good at it

ships.ini gives easier to destroy AAA guns on ships

I would love to be able to replace some of the winter objects....(which do not get much use....by me anyway)...but I have no idea how to...or how to alter the appearance of things......
all my work on this mod came from looking at Lal_Rone's mod and someone else's work on the trains and convoys....and then trying to change things myself

if such denuded palm trees were able to be made....then the Panzer for them would need to be stronger....so that they are nearly indestructible

I tested this and it works. Since I could not find the palm trees, I pointed the DeadMesh (whatever it is called in static.ini) at an existinf destroyed building. I set the panzer to .15 and bombed them. Poof! destroyed buildings popped up where the trees had been.

If I can extract the palm trees, this WILL work. Note that the destroyed objects are indestructible anyway, so you will have a green tree, then a stump. For making the stump I would just delete the green in the tga and make an alpha channel.

Deciduous trees I could do now but the "stump" would be the winter tree.

fabianfred, one more thing. Do I need Lal_rone's destruction mod loaded too, or does yours incorporate his? Thanks.

no...my mods is worked-on from his...and extended....although some of his values he has applied to various things may be different to mine Smile

it is often a matter of personal taste or decision as to what is 'realistic'

with my .ini files anyone with half a brain can try altering things themselves ....and if they come up with good stuff....I hope they share it too
