This manauver is also called a hammerhead right?
yeah, i can remember why i didnt put that name in
This is what I use immediately after a head-on attack where I KNOW that I have more energy than my opponent or have greater zoom-climb (like in an FW190 or P47). Usually after the head-on pass, if I'm sure I have more E, I go vertical and let the enemy try to follow (after he bleeds E from the usual tight turn) upwards. I'll usually be .7km higher by the time he stalls and noses down to regain some speed, and if I time it right, I'll zoom down on his 6 before he can muster enough E to maneuver away.
The secret to pulling off the hammerhead stall turn is good throttle and rudder management. It works great in the P47, Ki84b, Spit (all) but I have trouble in the LA7 and I185 probably due to mismanaging the rudder/throttle balance.
When i try to do it i always fail.I can preform all manuvers that i know of to perfection(almost),but hammerhead eludes me.I cant figure out what im doing wrong(probobly its a power menagament issue),who knows,i certanly dont
I think part of the problem in executing a good hammerhead in a flight sim is the lack of situational awareness associated with sims. In a real aircraft you have a far wider field of view and you can feel what the aircraft is doing, desktop sims have no way of giving us this sort of experience.
Well.. I'm sucking with you then!!..
That makes three of us! Sure, one of us might possess poor piloting skills, but the odds of all three of us? Why, it's got to be astronomical... at least 2:1.
LOL!!..
