Dynamic Light in IL2
#1

Hi every body.

I try to create a MOD about dynamic light, but I can't find the good files. Perhaps someone could make it ...

The Campfire objet only produce a dynamic light. When you place it next another objects, they are lighted.

So you can use this new object to simulate spotlight on the ground to enlight parking, industry .... or generate dynamic light on fire.

I hope you understand what I mean ... sorry for my poor english

Here are some screens to show what I mean:

Try Duby Airbase : I place telegraph poles with white light to simulate spotlight. But on the screen, my spotlight floodlight nothing ... there is no dynamic light :

Now, I use Campfire objects which generate dynamic light. I hide campfire in the decor. Players can't see the flame. On the screen, people believe that my spotlight generate light, and the place is lit :

So I would like to :
- copy/paste the Campfire as a new object.
- erase flame animation
- increase light power
- modify color of light into white.

Can someone help me, or know how to create this mod ?

Thanks.

-easy
-easy
-most likely possible, require some Java work probably
- possible, require some Java work.Maybe it would be better to change lights to be more yellow, IMO that would better represent city lights during that period.

Hi FC.

I didn't know that Campfire is Java script.
It would be great if you can copy/paste campfire and erase flame animation !!!!

The searchlight is another object which generate dynamic light. But it is ON only when a enemy aircraft fly nearby. However the color of light is good, and the light have no quiver.

First I though this MOD for spotlights, but a dynamic light could be used for fires in a city.

It would be perfect to have two dynamic light :
- little size and white color for spotlight (like my screen)
- big size and yellow color for fire in flaming city.

I hope it's possible ...

Can you use the fires from rockets? They light the objects and ground around them as well.

Great idea ROne.Big Grin

Maybe it would be possible to attach the small dynamic light to a parafrag bomblet to get a working parachute flare for target marking? I suppose one would have to reduce the bomb explosive effect to zero, or as near as possible. The ideal would be that the dynamic light 'burns' for the duration of the bomb's descent and even after the 3D bomb model has struck the ground and disappeared. (This would work well with Jolly's 'cookie' Mosquito, carried as a mixed bombload - cookie and slow-falling marker flares).

If the small dynamic light could somehow be triggered to come on by the explosion of a bomblet (maybe replace the crater decal by a small dynamic light), one could simulate the long burn times of incendiary bombs. Perhaps a bright white or yellow would be appropriate for phophorous incendiaries?

Aren't there some white landing lights that do this as well? e.g Hurricane

Illumination (dynamic light) from landing light is defined in one of .class files, so it can't be changed via any configuration file. The colour of landing/nav light source (but not the halo-effect) is also fixed in it.

This is an ugly programing solution but it works.
