P-47 Thunderbolt cockpit modding references and discussion

rgr that poncho......it only seems to effect certain fighters for sure. So you're saying it's the aircraft and not the site. Changing out sites from other ac that don't suffer this will have no effect on it. Well darn...I fly alot of times in wide view and toggle between views. Oh well...I've adopted a technique to deal with this...guess I'll jsut have to master it. Thanks tho. Oh yeah...any new updates? Smile

While you were sleeping I fixed the razorback's gunsight and arranged for AAA to automatically install the fix to your computer. The update is now ready for you to use. To activate it, simply load up a razorback P-47 and then push this key combination:

SHIFT + F1

Diablo,

The gunsight view centers the screen on the gunsight pipper. And the cockpit view should direct your view down the center axis of the a/c. Actually, I am unhappy with the last released gunsight mod because the razorbacks are not centered enough in cockpit view. In the next release the cockpit view will be even more centered than it is now. Which does not address your concern. Take a look at the FW190, another offset design, the reticle also becomes nearly useless in cockpit view.

I do now understand the effect you are trying to achieve. To get close to what you want, my recommendation would be to stay in gunsight view, and assign a convenient key sequence to wide view. This way you can quickly expand your view field and keep the reticle centered. Then use cockpit (centered view) for general flight and landings.

Oh and SG I tried your trojan mod- and it works like a charm

My modding activity has been limited for a while due to job responsibilities. So I have not accomplished what I wanted. But I thought I would show you what I am shooting for. This is the slip ball I am trying to animate on the D27 Mk8 sight. At the moment it doesn't do anything. But if I can figure out this Java BS, it will look something like this. I also am experimenting with hooding and lens textures.

If I can get this to work, it would open the possibility of additional working gauges, sliding canopies and the like. I just need the time and inspiration.

Now i don't know how historical it is for the P-47, but for sure it would be very useful (as it is on the mustang) !

I can only give you moral support, but here it is, go go go Big Grin

Oh dear God....please let him work out how to do it!!!!!

Poncho, every P-47 flier will look at you as the Messiah if you can give us the plane that we have so long waited for, the cockpit and gunsights are truly awesome.....I really hope that you can work out the sliding canopy, then all you'll have to do is start work on the P-47N Wink

Seriously mate, brilliant, just brilliant, cheers, MP.

Waiting with anxious anticipation, Poncho, looking great!

rollnloop, checkout one of my previous posts where I gave a link to some film footage that clearly shows a slip/skid ball integrated with the Jug gunsight. It looks like a bubble-top, but can't tell specific model.

poncho....it's looking good. Oh...and i have a button on my MFT assigned to Shift-F1. I know all about it and that is how I return to gunsight view to shoot. I was jsut hoping I would not ahve to shift back and forth. Still keep up teh great work. We can only hope fopr sliding canopies and more working guages...especially in the N model.
