The most ridiculous thing...

CAPS INTENDED GENTLEMEN...........

Yes, its 'shouting'............. I apologize.....

I downloaded some 'additions'.........

Now, whenever an aircraft is 'hit' it has all of these arrows sticking out of it! It looks like some ridiculous vaude-ville routine. You know where the 'scout' goes out into 'Indian country', and comes back with all these arrows in his chest and back!

Maybe its not the 'additions' maybe its a 'setting'. But, IT HAS GOT TO GO!

This effect is so funny, I almost 'wet' myself. I'm still laughing!!!!!

How do I get rid of these? The joke is only funny the first time!

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but this is without a doubt, the MOST RIDICULOUS thing I have ever seen on any 'game' ever!

So, I have got to ask, what where you (who ever you are) thinking? Not trying to 'flame' anyone, Just curious!!! You don't have to answer, its a rhetorical question.

Any help would be appreciated, I'll apply the 'fix' as soon as I can regain control and stop laughing!

Yes it is a setting, cannot remember how to turn it off - something to do with that ragingly wrong 'arcade' style.

BTW, I know you intended your thread to have capitals, but please; don't. In future you may find it simply... disappears...

Is it in conf.ini ?

Arcade=0 or something like that!

You most probably had downloaded a conf.ini from someone else the same time with some mods (additions). The conf.ini file and its settings are not mods or additions.... you may play with them from the beginning of IL-2.

Search in the conf.ini file from your game directory the line: Arcade=1 and switch it back to Arcade=0 or delete it altogether if you wish.

Normaly the line is in the [GAME] section.

You can use this setting for offline or for replays to see how well you hit with you guns... or you were hit if that is the case.

P.S. Next time don't panic, you sound like a scared old lady.

Point taken.......... apologies to one and all.......

Like I said................ no, its to funny to pursue, and at this stage of 'the game', most everyone has encountered this.......... so anything I can say won't help.........

Back to 'business'............ I didn't change any 'settings' and as far as I know, I'm not in 'arcade' mode!

So, I wonder what changed? The only 'additions' had to do with skins, gauges........ that sort of thing!

I even hate to say it, a virus? Please not that!

Go have a look in your conf.ini, as suggested. You don't have a virus. This is not voodoo.

It's happened to me now a couple of times over the years, but not recently.. It is a conf ini setting that has somehow been set to 'arcade'. Not sure why the game did it or what caused it, but it was quickly sorted after an adjustment to the above file.. certainly nothing to shout about. A quick look on any of the ubi, Mission 4 today type forums will quickly lead to the solution..

This is like getting so weird............

I went in and checked, sure enough it was set to arcade...........

I had not used it before so it seemed like it was related to something else......

So, I reset it........... bingo no more 'arrows'..........

But now.................. my game seems to have mastered Russian (I believe) and I have not......

So I went to the setup told it 'English', doesn't make any difference!

I guess its just a setting, but if all I changed was 'arcade', why did it start 'speaking' Russian?

The two are on the same page (using IL2 Sturmovik Stab 6.3) but that's about the only thing they have in common as far as I can tell! It happened once before and I just reset the language choice and that was it. But I don't know why it would change, and I certainly didn't choose Russian. This time it won't 'reset' to English.

Has anyone else experienced this?

The soundmod changes things to Russian, because you are now using a Russian .exe file. There are fixes on the forum.

It's a known issue for first time mod users with a simple fix (The link is inoperative)

Why? Just install the english language fix.

As for the Boot screen, it can be edited to what ever you wish - English, Dutch, German, Samoan, Japanese, Marshin etc...

'geeze' guys..........

thanks for your help............

I've gone through several of these, op's what did I do wrong scenarios........

Am I particularly stupid? Maybe, time will tell!

Something to consider 'gentlemen' (for everyone's benefit), not all 'machines' are set up the same way! There may be circumstances that render 'standard' or 'one size' fits all solutions, irrelevant.
The number of variables are almost equal to the number of 'machines' out there!

Everyone is trying to help, at least it seems that way to me............

It might be possible, however unlikely, since the 'problems' have been 'seen before' that the standard 'fix' might not be that.........

Its assumed that a set of criteria applies to any given problem.............. really?

I am in admiration for those individuals who 'stick it out' with a problem, trying to help someone they have never met and probably never will........

But, on the other hand............

Many have gone through situations where 'walking' us through a problem ultimately ends in the 'fixes' being anything than that..........

Thats not a 'knock', just an observation...........

So, after you have been through the umpteenth variation of something......... frustration will set in!

It's only natural, don't you think?

So, at the outset, when 'addressing' such problems, wouldn't the first question be, did you do a restore? In fact, instead of all those......... 'you must install this first', or this program is needed to effect successful installation of the files / programs...... The first instruction might be 'do a restore point', before proceeding any further! This may seem obvious to 'guru's' but it's something I've learned, and it really is necessary, don't you think?

Thats what I did, without any 'melodrama' and implemented it in a non-melodramatic fashion......

I've noticed that on occasion some of the 'threads' address this......... that's good...........

I'm pretty sure the goal here is to advance the 'community' related to this simulation, its a good one, one of the best I've come across......... I hope to be using it for quite some time...

I wouldn't say that the 'attitude' on this site is one of either indifference or intolerance......... in fact I'd say its the exact opposite, that's a good thing, one in which everyone who participates can be proud of........ and because of this, many will turn to this site for help with their problems.......... I think it will continue to be the 'premier' site for such activities, at least I sincerely hope so!

This site is great, it allows everyone to 'customize' their experience relative to this 'sim'. And it doesn't try to 'trash' the original game.......... what more could you ask for?

Tolerance gentlemen, tolerance........... the acceptance of a different point of view or a different situation, one of which does not apply to you............ I don't always live up to it, sometimes you get caught up in the circumstances (know what I mean), its only natural..........

No 'knocks' or 'flaming' intended........ just my observation of a very good site and the people that make it work.........

Anyway, enough 'stumping'.......... I'd just like to thank all those individuals for their help.........
thanks to you I can continue to enjoy one of my favorite sims!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
