I've noticed my cockpit engine sounds are not audible on some aircraft (well you would wouldn't you?). I'm using sound mod 9.3, the aircraft concerned are the A-20, SBD, Wildcat, Hellcat, Corsair. I can't find anything on the forums but does anyone know this bug and have a cure for it? It really is spooky barreling along at full throttle with just wind noise.
I had the same problem -- but exactly vice versa: my almost all a/c engine sounds in 0.93 are so loud, that it's almost impossible to fly most of the fighters... But bombers, quite opposite, are almost inaudible...
So, I think these problems come from sound recorder settings of guys who developed this mod.
So, there are some different sound settings in game: "Effects sounds", "Overall sounds", "Internal sounds" (I heve Russian version so I may only guess the English names)... I recommend you to try to change them...
Besides, try to disable/enable "Hardware acceleration". My sounds became better after that method...
Good luck.
Mangas.
its easy
you need to edit following files
A-20's:
motor.PrattWhitney_R-2600_Series.prs
F4F's, SBD's
motor.PrattWhitney_R-1830_Series.prs
F4U's, F6F's
motor.PrattWhitney_R-2800_Series.prs
look for [spl] and increase the numeric value
Hi. Thank you, that's sure a nice & simple decision. Nevertheless, it helped me with external sounds only. I still can't hear nothing but the quiet wind when in Ju-88 or He-111 cockpit...

Mangas.
Are you guys using "hardware acceleration" in sound settings or am I the only one?
Mangas.
Are you guys using 4.08 or 4.09
The sound dlls with the 4.09 beta dont seem to mesh so hot. Practically everyone in my group had issues after moving to 4.09.
To remedy the problem we removed the sound dlls and replaced them with the ones from 4.08
mg_snd.dll
and
mg_snd_sse.dll
I think i read in a readme file not to install the new sound files that came with the 4.09. Did you try replacing them with the old ones?
This are the files i'm talking about and they are not in the mods folder but in the Il-2 root folder:
mg_snd.dll
mg_snd_sse.dll
