Hi, I'm new here and I've been used to using forums and I have used the search button to locate and see if it has happened to anybody else, but it seems that I might be the only one. Me and my bro just recently got IL2: 1946 and we used to have Pacific Fighters and IL2: Sturmovik, and we just loved the the sim so much, that we just had to get 1946. The only thing is that when I get online and try to takeoff with an airplane, it seems to turn towards the left for no reason and takeoff for like 5 in.'s and than just crash into the ground. I've had the problem as well on Pacific Fighters, but I was able to control it. I know it has to do with the prop, that's what causes the turning (pilot as well). But while in game, I can't seem to control it like I used to, and it just crashes instantly into the ground.

I have my flaps extended and full throttle, but it dips with the left wing into the ground, and then nose dives into the ground. I'm also using my PS2 controller to fly while using my Gameon Universal USB Converter. I've used it on Pacific Fighters and IL2: Sturmovik, and it works great. I can even do take-off in the older versions with the controller, but not in the new updates. I also recently downloaded 4.08m cause I really want to play against ppl who play the sim as well, but how will I if the airplane just keeps crashing?

Is there a mod I forgot to install? Is there anybody that can help me out?

If you're used to fly with some realism settings switched off you might not have experienced this before, and if you entered a full realism server it would be on. It's a real bitch to get used to at first but you'll learn to counter it. Just practice offline with full realism.

Or you can try a twin-engined plane, or a jet - they don't suffer from this effect...

What you are describing is engine torque. I don't think engine torque was modeled in the early versions of Il2 or Pacific Fighters up to about version 4.??. You can go into the difficulty settings and turn off engine torque when flying off line, but on line the settings are determined by the server.

Taking off with realistic settings requires finesse. You can't jamb the throttle forward and leap into the air. Add throttle slowly and gently and correct your course deviation with your rudder. Once the tail of the plane rises, you can usually add full throttle. Once your wheels leave the ground do not yank back on the stick, climb out gently while retracting your landing gear. You may want to use flaps during takeoff, especially if the runway is short.

another tip to stp the swing to the left on take off s too lock your tail wheel

In controls set a key for "Lock tail wheel"

Just don't forget to unlock it when u want to uturn on the ground lol

well I tried that as well, locking my tail wheel. used the L3 button for the lock and it locked while on the runway. But it kept steering towards the left, I thought there were crosswinds on the runway, but I don't know if u can apply that to the game or not. But after i locked, it still took off for 5 in.'s and crashed into the ground.

Last nite I did try on offline mode and I was able to takeoff from a stationary carrier, so I might try later on a server. Keep trying till it comes out right.

not a dumb question. See I don't have a joystick so I use my PS2 controller connected to this universal controller/usb adapter for my computer. I do everything from my controller by setting up the buttons and all.

yea, but its ok, I've used the controller to play on Pacific Fighters and IL2: Sturmovik and it worked perfectly. But the thing is that its way too sensitive to work and I rather use a joystick, thing is I don't have one at the moment.

Another thing is that when i look in the cockpit before doing anything, my stall light is on and it stays on during takeoff...

I was able to takeoff but with the Biplane Airplane models...and for some reason when I try to go in a bomber, my engines won't start. I keep pressing "I" and I've even selected for all engines and nothing happens... :x

for bombers you have to select each engine induvidually

the stall light is normal on take off because you are below the stall speed when you are taking off :wink:

I found out that mostly the problem for my takeoff's was that the PS2's right analog stick, which controls the rudder is waaaaay too sensitive than that of a regular joystick. So I'm using my bro's joystick from time to time and after I finish my P-38 Late skin. Around that time I'll use it more often.
