I have noticed (along with many others) that most of the frame rate drop attacking ships comes when the smaller guns (20mm or less) open up.
What do you think about a mod that keeps the larger AA but eliminates the small puffs and frame rate stealing small guns?
Any opinions and is anyone up to make a mod like this?

Totally agree!!

It'd be nice to have that for lower end PC's, though I'm not a modder...

Also the ROF adjustment in FMB should only affect the ship's small AAs.
