P-39 US gunsight
#31

MAHA,

If you were interested in a Pacific P-39, I do have a N3A gunsight saved in my spare parts folder that I could install. Unless you are already doing this- I don't want to hijack your project. Smile

Carnage, when different versions of an a/c use the same cockpit and you want to apply a feature to one but not the others it becomes more difficult, but not impossible. For example the P47D10 and D22 originally used the same cockpit. With some Java file work these were split into 2 separate files.

poncho!

I just want to fly authentic P-39 in the game. If your gunsight is better and more historic accurate - I will fly P-39 with yours one! And everybody will make his own choice. You are welcome!!! Big Grin

MAHA,

I have combined your reticle work with the N3 sight depicted in previous posts. The photo shows the sight at an angle which I have not replicated yet but here is my first go at it.

Nice poncho. Wish i liked the P-39/400 series of planes. Sad

The P-39/400 series would be a lot easier to like if the cockpit didn't look so awful. It really was a ground breaking plane that got a lot of bad press.

The sight really helps Poncho and MAHA.

Now if we could just do something about that green framing.

This type of sight is on the F4F3 and some of the P40 models that are supposed to have the N-3A sights. So I admit that I am assuming that the in game planes are modelled correctly. It is possible that the square (support?) structures along the sight column are unique to the US Navy version of the sight and are not right for the P-39. :? There are other N3 options I think.

MAHA,

You are right, I made a mistake, the sight I posted before is from one of the P40's not the Wildcat. Here is the N3A from the F4F3, this is the closest I can find to the sight in your P39 cockpit shot.

N3A
